Popular Post vags
Hi guys, Since my current build is taking me embarrassingly too long to finish I thought I would fill the gap with this (very) old model of mine. It is my 106th build, finished in June 2002, some 17 years ago. It took me 14 months to build but there are no WIP photos. Here is some WIP info instead: The Mauve kit has fine engraved panel lines which were enhanced by the addition of engraved rivets. The cockpit was improved by the use of Eduard's No.48135 photo etched set. There is a lot of scratch-building in the power-plant area around and behind CMK's Allison V-1710 (set No.4032). True Details provided the wheels (set No.48015) and Tally HO! the stencils (set No. S 48001). The markings come from Aeromaster: Allied P-40N's Pt.1 No.48-126C. I chose Sqdn. Ldr. John Waddy's mount, an 80th Sqdn P-40N-20 of RAAF based on Noemfoor island in Dutch New Guinea during September 1944. Keep modelling. Spitfire31
A beautiful fusion of an artist's eye and a modeller's skills. I particularly like the very convincing weathering of the wing root areas and the logical effects of liquid leaks, etc. Also, the fact that your prop blades are free from ridiculous paint chipping. 😉 A great display of the modeller's art! Kind regards, Joachim

Kampartiger
Splendid build. The weathering is simply great. As the airfield of Noemfoor was just by the sea,it wasn't made out of crushed coral but rather earth and sand,so I will accept the fact that the P40 propeller did not share the same erosive effect as the marines'corsairs. Andwil
Excellent P-40! I must admit I clicked on this expecting to see a mauve Hawk and an explanation for the unusual colour scheme 🤦♂️ AW Edited February 6, 2019 by Andwil

simonj
Outstanding work - where did you get the rivet plan ? Do you still have them ?
Andy Dyck
Really convincing! 17 years old? Therefore it’s at a very high level! Really artistic! Don’t believe that my models have such a level like yours 17 years ago. As Joachim said, you have an artistic eye. The weathering is absolutely nice. Heavy but not overdone. Love it ! Cheers Andy
Greg Law
Excellent build. The weathering is spot on. Strange seeing the German kill markings on a Pacific plane. I take it the pilot flew in the desert.
