Renovating and old Tiger

Recommended Posts

Hello, as the title suggests, I have in my possession a Tiger 1 built almost a decade ago, unfortunately it was packed and stored in the basement for many years and some dust came through, I am wondering if a renovation is possible and what to look out for, I am thinking about repainting it and fixing some flaws I did back then

Thank you in advance

What kit is it?

I only ask as if it was a cheap kit maybe just use it as a test model and rebuy the kit again.

Or if it's worth saving then try and strip the paint off and do a repaint, now you need some oven cleaner the foam type and leave in a plastic bag for a few hours that should shift the paint,

then wash in warm water and leave to dry.

What paint did you originally paint it in?

Good luck

If I was to do something like this, I'd try and remove all of the small detail such as machine guns, tow cables, pioneer tools etc. They are going to get damaged in the clean up process, so why not remove and replace with new items? There is a material that you can buy, I think that it's called Modelstrip, made specifically for stripping old enamel paint from models.

Good luck with it.
