Pagey
Picked up the basic boxing at the Brampton model show last year and it was a real bargain as it was full of extra resin bits, not all was used in the kit as there were resin late and early wheels, 2 different types of seats etc. I used one of the seats with moulded on seatbelts, and the replacement wing guns (which invoice cutting the gun panel out of the leading edge of the upper and lower wing) not really worth the effort in the long run. Decided to buy the montex paint masks for the national insignias and codes (all except the Z which I had to make myself). I think that the painted on effect looks much better (getting the masks to like up on the fuselage roundels was a pain in the backside as the shape of the fuselage pulled the circle out of shape and getting the different colour circle masks to fit together was challenging. The fit of some parts (such as cockpit framework was exemplary, other parts (such as the wing halves) were not so good. The red and blue of the insignia was my own mix from different tamiya paints. Am pleased with the result. keith in the uk
Very nice indeed just a pointer , all Typhoons & Tempests wheel bays &, insides of radiators were finished in natural metal or Aluminium (Quote from Camouflage & Markings page 78) cockpit interiors were painted Black from 1942 onwards.

Typhoons, yes, Tempest, no, there is film from a servicing film that shows the wheels wells a light grey tone, as well as photos of Tempest being built at Langley, also showing a light grey tone, aluminium paint (never natural metal) photographs near white. see here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235050068-question-hawker-tempest-cockpit-color/ video is posted with times. The model has come out really @Pagey

IrritableRabbit
Deserves several woot woots! Yeah, I used to be an adult once but no more. Great looking beastie, and nice (brave) job with the painted insignia and codes. Works wonders for these bigger builds by the looks of it.
Pagey
I thought the same thing about the wheel bay and cockpit colours and even held off painting until I had checked it out. The seat was also supposed to be interior green but I decided to break up the internal green with aluminium. Is a big beasty, forgot how hard to handle this scale is, knocked loads of things over turning the plane around for sanding and masking

Mark Joyce
That weathering is just superb and, yes, there's nothing like painting on the markings. Great job on the build! Cheers, Mark
Rob S
Fantastic work. Always partial to a Tempest and you have certainly done justice to it. Must keep an eye out for one of these (or even the more expensive ones if cheap enough) one day ...

spitfire
That's a really nice job you've made of that, and I agree about the painted on markings especially in the bigger scales where they look so much more realistic. I always use masks, probably because I'm not very good with decals. Cheers Dennis
