Like Badder - I noticed your Gallery photos appear and then came to have a look here as well. Well, what can I say? Absolutly stunning whitewashed Pz.IV and your base sets it off beautifully! That really is a great idea for a base and I think the water, as Badder suggests, -looking like a raging torrent - works brilliantly. I think your first foray into 1/72 armour has really paid off. Top notch modelling! :worthy::worthy::worthy:

Kind regards,

Stix

Thanks stix I appreciate the boost for 72nd, another venture is  definitely on the cards, I'm up for a 35th and 72nd double up in the tiger gb, seeing as I've got a relatively easy 35th zvezda king tiger( old ex dragon mold) I might also plump for a 72nd  afrika korp tiger

Thanks again

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING - I have to agree with @Badder - when he says - 'The best 1/72nd Panzer of the GB in my books!' but I'm sure Ben @badger is going to give you a close run with his masterpiece.

Well done indeed Glynn :clap2::goodjob:

Many thanks Steve, I reckon yours badgers and Churchill, who've all offered great moral support on this venture, all trump mine, but with a few more in the pipe line I'm hoping to get my eye in, and with the imminent delivery of my secret ( not so secret now) weopon, a pair of x6 magnification reading glasses to help my lagging eyesight🤓, maybe some pe

Cheers

Glynn she is absolutely stunning!

Despite the water "issues" I think the end result looks great and as has already been said by others, makes for a very realistic torrent of melt water. I think the whole scene looks superb and all the added extras you have added really do make a difference, the air recognition flag in particularly stands out for me.

I see more 1/72 armour in your future, and possibly mine and others after seeing your excellent work.

Really well done mate.

@Churchill  very kind Churchill, thanks, the rapids, should have been a trickle through rocks but they melted upon impact of the molten water, and subsequently blistered my hand🤪, glad you approve.

@modelling minion, nice one Craig I appreciate it, yes I'll definitely do more 72nd,plenty of time for everything including crazy diorama ideas😜

@Ozzy cheers pal, glad you like it, my eyes felt it, it was guess work sometimes 🤓

Great work fella!!

What is it with water effects - having a few issues with mine as well. Wouldn't be worried about it though as looks excellent to me.

The whole thing turned out brilliantly, very dramatic and full of movement.

Looking forward to seeing what you do in the Tiger GB.

All the best

I really don't think so - credit where credit is due.

I would be happy to be any part of a 1/72 team with you in the future - TEAM TINY TIGER GB - perhaps - what say you guys....

@Hewy @badger @Churchill - you three can do the quality and I'll do the quantity

I Have 3 Revell KING Tigers ready to go and I have been looking at which Tiger I's to go for in 1/72 - any ideas....

I'm up for this.

As regards Tiger 1s - I presume you are thinking Normandy? Dragons late version is ok but hard to find and has issues with the idler wheels not fitting.

Trumpeter do a mid and a late that would work, but they are bit basic in places and can be a bit expensive.

Revell's early (Tunisia version) needs a fair bit of work but their late version has less issues and is not a bad kit (not quite as nice as the Panzer IV). It's reasonably cheap and easily available so could be a contender?

Zvezda do an excellent early version but this wouldn't fit a Normandy theme.

I was thinking of doing an Elefant (1:72). Dragon's 7253 seems to be an excellent kit, but expensive and hard to find. Dragon seem to have replaced it with 7515, the problem is I can't find any reviews of that kit, and from the few pictures of the sprues and instructions I've found it looks like it might be a step back in detail. I asked about that in the Tiger GB chat, but no advice so far. Anyone on here know?

But first, I'm doing an anti-tank bren carrier in the The Specialists GB, and the prototype super Pershing in the Patton GB. So I can make up my mind about the Tiger build later. I do intend to be in it with something.

It is an impressive job, although the Tamiya jar gives an idea of the size, it is almost difficult to imagine the real size, so, so small ...
I love how it was ...

Cheers Hewy 👍

Looks to be a completely new tooled kit, I see zvezda also do one but it's snap tight, but that's a new one too, if ever you  had a daft  thought about moving  up to 35th, 😳, I can recommend zvezdas ferdinand, an easy nicely detailed kit, cheap too around the £25 mark (by easy I mean no unnecessary 15 parts to make up the bogeys, and great link and length tracks,)

Ben a quick question if you don't mind, for my tiny tiger, in the gb I'd like to build an afrika korps  tiger, in dunkelgelb, I'd like to change the fenders for pe  or remove parts of them, I see the revell one has a couple of issues, what's my best option, I don't want to do zimmerit,  that's if the desert tigers had it at all,

Thanks ben

Have a look at the Trumpeter 1/72 Elephant (or Ferdinand) - it's a very nice kit and some folk regard it more highly than Dragons.

Hi Hewy

The Tunisian tigers didn't have zimmerit you'll be pleased to know. As far as I'm aware the Revell kit is the only one that builds a Tunisian one from the box. The main issue for me (I have the kit) is the cupola which can be replaced with an OKB Grigoriv or Armoury one. Eduard did an etched set that was very nice and either Hauler or Part may do one.

Many of the errors are fixable but this is a decent summary of them - if you are tempted I probably have a stack of other research I'd be happy to share as I have this in my project stash

Thanks Ben,  very much appreciated mate, as we get close to the gb  I may very well be quizzing your good self on the matter,

No worries

I wouldn't consider myself any kind of expert but I have a pretty extensive reference library.

You've got me considering what to build now 🤔

All the best
