Looks at workbench. looks at wip again. *sigh* But if you have this kit in your stash, give it a go: the build is really straightforward, and it's totally enjoyable Sorry for the lack of updates, everybody; last week was a very busy one and I was away for the WE, so I managed very little bench time. Which went into brush painting some of the odd bits, like the Venturi tail wheel (apologies for the blurry pic, and I'm afraid it's not the only one) this "thing" that goes under the belly, in the wings area main wheels, with a bit of dirtying up using the sponge technique and the propeller assembly, now weathered and flat coated. Also, the main struts got painted and weathered Some detail painting on the external tanks too, but no weathering because there are stickers that need to go on first (!) That's really it. The Spadgent
Monster catch up G. I forgot to click the “follow” button. Such a numpty. Everything from the internals through the NMF to the mottles, painted decals. “You know what I mean” to THAT blue stripe. 😎 it’s all amazing. I’ll try and keep on top of this from now on. 🤸♂️ great looking kit though, then again you make every kit look good. All the best. Now you're being too kind As far as this kit goes in terms of building, I didn't really do much, it's that good! Bank holiday today in Italy, which means long WE ahead and eventually some time for modelling. In fact, I did put on all the decals/stickers/stencils tanks first and their pylons Aircraft The ideograms on each wings are supplied as a single decal, but I chose to cut the single pieces out to avoid having too much clear film to deal with Port side and the tail The big tail decals required multiple applications of Tamiya Mark Fit strong. They are pretty thick (not as bad as in older Tamiya kit, though), and I'm just glad I limited the use of decals to these and the stencils. To properly refine them, once set I scored along the panel lines covered by them with a brand new blade and a razor blade, adding a bit of setting solution with a fine tipped brush right afterwards. The panel lines wash will tell if I did a good job I decided to use the kit decals for the gun through patches, too: I could have painted them on, but I think they look more like actual patches this way, in this scale While waiting for everything to settle before spraying a protective gloss clear coat, I completed the main struts assembly and the exhausts weathering That's it for tonight, comments welcome Ciao Edited April 25, 2019 by giemme

Andwil
Fantastic model Giorgio. Incidentally, the characters on the tail read “Sure Victory” (Hissho), an optimistic sentiment for an aircraft fighting the losing and vain battle against the B-29 armadas in 1945. giemme
Hi everybody; long WE, long report. I call this completed, although with a major cockup that happened when gluing the very last bit First things first, though: the blue stripes needed toning down and becoming darker, so I brush painted some Payne Grey (which is actually blue) oil on them and removed the excess with a paper towel Not as shiny, as you can see. I then completed the weathering by adding a black tempera wash on the movable surfaces lines and on the red areas; all the remaining panels received a dark grey tempera wash, to keep them subtle I also airbrushed some staining around the exhausts area (also restrained, period pics show this area not very dirty) , and a final clear satin coat Bottom side Then I brush painted the wingtip lights with Tamiya Clear Blue and Clear Red Time for the reveal: I removed the canopy masking and look, I still have a cockpit 😮 A few touch ups to do, but all in all not too bad On her legs bottom view resin gun barrels glued in and all the remaining bits added And here's the cockup: when gluing the sliding canopy (the last bit I put on), I also applied some Tamiya Green Cap along the back vertical sides, but it leaked in by capillarity and reached up to the visible part of the back fixed frame.... And since I'm an idiot, I did this both sides (even more visible here) No way I can fix it, no way I can hide it - not that comes to my mind, anyway... One more frontal shot As I anticipated, I call this completed. I think I'll post an RFI anyway, despite of the final boo-boo, but that'll have to wait till next WE, probably. All comments welcome, as usual Ciao
corsaircorp
Hello Giorgio ! Great Tony !! The mess is not so visible on the pics. I never glued any transparencies with green cap… Only Crystal clear 8 Sincerely. CC 1
