Old Viper Tester
A-7D 69-6194, operated by the 6512th Test Squadron, 6510th Test Wing, Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB, October 1984. Headed toward the Superior Valley weapons range with a single SUU-20 loaded with six BDU-33 practice bombs. Store separation cameras are mounted on the intake, left wing tip and the aft fuselage to record the BDU-33 releases. Name beneath the windscreen is Maj Gen Peet Odgers, the AFFTC commander. Lined up on Runway Departing Edwards pattern Doing our all-around visual inspection to confirm "Clean and dry" Dropping singles Looks like one BDU-33 doesn't want to go Confirming a "hung" bomb Returning to base (RTB) with one BDU-33. Thanks for looking, Sven 15
Smudge
Nice. I think that would be a great subject for a model. Unusual in the white/red scheme. Sven, did you ever fly in a two seat Corsair (A-7K) or were you ever involved in tests with one? That's an interesting version that doesn't seem to get much attention. Cheers

Robert
Strange, it has not standard insignias and missing from the upper port wing.

Afraid not. The 6510th did not acquire A-7Ks until I was in the process of leaving in 1993. A-7Ks were brought in occasionally for the Test Pilot School students to evaluate during the systems phase of the curriculum, but my class had F-104s and F-106s instead (1981-82).
