typhoon1
Hi Joseph I would go with Revell kit a nice build I was going to build mine Royal Thai Air Force but gave up on trying to get hold of the decals. Kind Regards Craig
beppe
hello Craig, I have the olimp resin accessories set and I'll probably make the SAAF bird, If you're interrested, I can ship you the Thaï. Joseph
Jure Miljevic
A brief discussion on this question can be found here ... ... but the quick answer would be the latest Revell kit. Cheers Jure
Parrahs
It may be worth keeping i mind that Revell has sold three different toolings of JAS 39. There's the 1989 tooling (kit 4374) which is to have serious accuracy issues, there's their JAS 39A which is the Italieri kit reboxed, and there's the JAS 39C and D kits which are their new toolings. I was wondering if there would an Italeri re-box somewhere in the Revell line up. Great info. Thanks!
charlie_c67
The Italeri 39A’s are still the best early Gripens out there. Be interesting to see if Revell backdate or modernise their version to cover the A’s or E’s once back or a more stable footing.
Orso
For a SAAF (or Czech, Hungarian, Thai or Swedish) Gripen You need the latest Revell JAS 39C kit. The old JAS 39A from Italeri (Revell, Bilek, Tamiya and Airfix) can only be built as a Swedish JAS 39A, no matter what the box says. I have updated my article about the 39A and B kits: https://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/jas-39a-och-39b-gripen-byggsatser-i-172/
beppe
Hi Björn, Thanks for the tip off. For a swedish during the operation in lybia, is the italeri ok ? Have a nice week-end Joseph

Orso
But you could add the Viggen splinter camo on the Italeri kit. One plane was painted like that for the last flight of the 39A http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2209
meindert
hi I suggest the Revell kit, please see my modelling report for a 1/72 Thai Gripen here at: https://designer.home.xs4all.nl/models/gripen/gripen-2.htm#thail-gripen In fact, many modern "World Aircraft" can be checked out at my page here: https://designer.home.xs4all.nl/world/Military-Aircraft-of-the-World.htm Have fun!
