TID Steam Tug Completed

Recommended Posts

Taken me a while (mainly due to health issues ) but I'm getting back on track.

A lesson learnt in scratch building. I'd been pondering for a while on how to attempt the windlass. Coming up with more and more complex solutions.

In the end I started with the main barrel assembly, then I needed a frame and it just grew from there . . . .  no need for all those fancy ideas

I'm with Beefy on this but nuts in the best possible way. I had to wait to see this on the PC to truly appreciate what a beautiful miniature work of art looks like. That's blooming incredible. :)

Thanks for all the encouragement folks .  .  .

Decided I'd earned an easy spell and give my eyes a rest.

So I've started on the wood jetty which will feature in the dio

As per usual started with a drawing, CA glued the base strips and worked away from that

That does look good Kev, I see another of your brilliant dio's in the making, like the way you have shown the 12" x 12" (or is it bigger) post as rough sawed wood :like:

You make it all look so easy!

Compared to the windlass it's a walk in the park 😉

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been working on a timber warehouse as a back drop to the jetty . .

Frame

Biggest problem encountered at this scale was window frame size and consistent squares

The answer was draw the frame at x10 actual size and then reduce it on a copier. The frame area was waxed and stuck to the back of the frame. I used  0.3mm square plastic

After the pieces were set the waxed paper was gently removed and we take another step forward . . .

and propped in position

Another step closer to roughing out the dio ...........

Thanks for looking in
