Paul A H
Fw 190A-5/U12 Gun Pods 1:72 Eduard It wasn't all that long ago that every other review kit to land on my desk seemed to be an Fw-190 of some description from our friends at Eduard. I jest of course, but this set piqued my interest as it has been a while since something Kurt Tank-esque arrived at BM Towers. Inside the clamshell packet, you get a pair of gun pods for the bomber destroyer variant of the A-5, with each comprising two 20mm cannon. The casting is up to Eduard's usual high standards, and there is a tiny fret of photo etched parts included to represent the finest details. Also included in the set is a small decal sheet which provides markings for an Fw 190A-5/U12 flown by Lt. Erich Hondt, Commanding Officer of 2./ JG 11, Husum, Germany, October 1943. You will need to scavenge some markings from the original A-5 kit in order to finish the scheme, but this does't seem to be problematic. Overall this is a nice little set which enables the modeller to build one of the more interesting variants of the Fw 190.
