Hillson-Praga E114b, KP 1/72

Recommended Posts

KP (Kovozávody Prostějov) is to be congratulated for their increasing line of very appealing civil subjects, bringing refreshing variety, color and a different, more uplifting scene to the modeling continuum.

I have been aware of this little cute monoplane since more than ten years ago and I compiled information on it with the purpose of scratching it, so I was very happy when KP released it in a couple different boxings.

This is a nice kit, fairly priced, that will only require some cleaning and adjusting to render a nice model. For the more adventurous and those with access to decal making, there are a large number of finishing options.

For the curious this is the WIP here at BM:

Very nice and also RWD-8 looks OK!

I was always curious how they were taking place in cockpit? - thank you for showing. How it was with parachute escape? ;)

Cheers

Beautiful build again Moa.

As I've mentioned before, it's an era of aviation I knew little about but thanks to your great builds (all of them, you're a prolific modeller) I've become interested in reading more about it.

Imagine being able to take to the uncrowded skies and whizz over the countryside and have the chance to go where you want. Back then it must have seemed such a thrilling and exciting thing to do. It may still be today, but there's so many regulations and rules and other aircraft around - not then, just jump in and off you pop!!

Another superb little model Moa. Love it - looks like a latter day microlight. Love the way that the occupants sit with their heads actually in the wing.

Cheers

Yes Jeff, definitely there was (and is) some magic there.

can I digress and complement you on your 1/72nd scale rough pasture! What did you use and how'd you do it?)

Whenever I can, in modeling matters, I take the easiest, practical road: I went to a railroad hobby shop, bought a green mat they use for grassed areas on dioramas, and then bought many different types of their diorama "grass", that comes as a sort of powder. I got different shades of green and different particle sizes.

I attached the green mat to a particle board, spread white glue on the green mat, sprinkled the different grasses (including a little of "static grass"), let dry, shook off the left overs (on a container for re-use) and voilà.
