I really wish Dora Wings would do these in 1/48 scale, instead of 1/72.

MPM and Special Hobby already produce a 1/72 Vega and Orion and they aren't bad kits. Both have their errors (i.e. like all the 1/72 single engine Lockheed kits the tailsurfaces are much too thick and have inaccurate airfoil shapes) but these can be fixed without too much trouble.

I hope Dora Wings does thorough research on their planned Vega and Orion as these old single-engine Lockheeds went through MANY changes and modifications. A 'one-size-fits-all' kit won't work at all.

And I wonder what Dora Wings is using for their drawings/research as none of the experts I know on these old Lockheeds have been contacted. Perhaps Dora Wings is using the old Wylam and Matt drawings, which are fairly accurate.

Now the Lockheed Vega model is in development, the scale is 1/48. Then, probably towards the end of the year, work on Orion will begin, also 1/48.

1/72 is scheduled for next year. In any case, 3D design will be much better than old kits.
You are right, at the base of the 3D model of Vega will be the drawings of Wylam.

Great news that the new Vega and Orion kits will be in 1/48 scale!

Way back when Wylam did his single-engine Lockheed drawings he supposedly had access to the Lockheed originals.

However, Wylam got the Vega EDO float drawings totally wrong so be sure to avoid those.

Hallo Folks,

Many years ago I built the Lindberg Winnie Mae and also the AMT version (with the cabin windows) Further modified the AMT to a Sirius and a Orion.

It would be nice when this old kits are replaced by something better...in 1/48 scale...:-)

Lets hope for the better..

Greetings,

Beautiful!🤗 Probably not the Winnie Mae version though. Perhaps in the future?

This will be the second box, Vega 5C. :)
