Not that i was trying to cheat   or anything but i googled the reg and i ended up at a Budapest bus company....

Edit: It reminds me of one that Diana Rigg or Patrick Macnee drove in The Avengers but it's not an Elan.....

Kudos to Pete in Lincs: it was indeed a Ford Sidevalve special, and until a couple of years ago I'd never seen another one. It was an EB 60 Sports, and this is what it should look like:

So yes, Fairthorpe, Marcos and all the others were along the right lines. 👍

EB 60 Sports,

Did some googling having never heard of them, my first though was they'd have been more show than go but reading this account of owning one, they had some go as well. Those wheels crack me up though, you'd have difficulty finding anything to fit them at the local go faster emporium. :)

That Anglia in the background's gorgeous....

You see a Karmann Ghia park by the side of an Anglia and say the Anglia's gorgeous! Has the world gone mad (well yes I know it has, but I just said it for effect).

The design of the Anglia is just wrong, and by the look on it's 'face', it knows it.

The Ford Anglia was (still is...) a thing of beauty.

My dad had a '63 Anglia in black and grey in about 1965. Red interior, ribbon speedo. Truly marvellous.

We loved that little car. Went everywhere in it.

Cheers, Alan.

So, do I win an Anglia then?

My first car was an Anglia. It cost a hundred quid.

It went faster because we replaced the rotted out boot floor with GRP!

With Ford Classic struts & discs, Koni shocks on the rear, it cornered on rails!

It eventually got traded in for a '72 Escort.

OK so I think this is yer lot for now:

First off a split-screen Morris Minor which sat by the road in Turbary Park, Bournemouth for years, gradually losing bits. I think they built a house on it!

Then, looking like a Humber Hawk but actually a Series I or II Super Snipe, somewhere in Kent but I honestly cannot even recall the car, let alone where it was!

car Misc (8)

Then a really rather nice Sunbeam Tiger, which sat in an overgrown next to the railway line near Whitstable back in the '80s: letters through the letterbox failed to get a reply to my "please sell it to me!" pleas...

car Misc (9)

And another from Tite's at Lyons Gate in Dorset: Morris 8 Series E:

And a similar pre/post-war family saloon: Vauxhall 10 that was in a sort-of scrap bit at Manston, Kent next to a garage:

Vauxhall 10

And not the best shot, but quite a rare car to see in a scrappy: Triumph Renown in among the other cars which start with 'T' at a scrapyard (name escapes me) at Newtown, Bournemouth/Poole. EDIT: I assumed they were Toyotas but I note that they are Datsuns, back when Nissans were Datsuns.

Triumph Renown

And finally another "what is it?". I'll leave it a few days before revealing the answer - if no-one gets it first! This sat on the roof of a cafe/restaurant near Ringwood for many years up to probably the 1990s. Some do survive and at least one is raced too. Never seen one on the road either.

They were always referred to as Ford Angulars among my friends, as much a play on words as for the conflicting angles they seemed to be burdened with. Imho, the van & station wagon were much better proportioned.

Yes named 'Angular' here too - as well as Angleboxes.

AND THE WINNER IS!!!!! Correct @Fastcat. Looks like a nice starting point for a modern engine/mechanicals on an attractive sports car. Or maybe a Lotus twin cam, Corsair close-ratio gearbox, um... what for a back axle?
