Buzby061
This is the Airfix 1/48 P-40 finished in a Soviet scheme courtesy Xtradecals sheet X48162. I used a spare reheat seat & seat belts but otherwise OOB. Can't say I'm uber chuffed with it as I found the kit over engineered in some places & my attempts to wrestle the cowling area into submission show some scars. It won't be in the front of the display cabinet but here it is anyway, with its imperfections. Comments, criticisms & observations welcome as always. Pete Thanks for looking.

Baldy
Looks like you gave up on those cowling guns. Other than that though it looks pretty good to me. Cheers Malcolm

Cheers Malcolm Got it in one! Just seemed to get worse the more I tried to fix it so I decided to call it done before it got any worse. opus999
I think it looks great nonetheless. Your paint job is very realistically done! I also really like the Russian subject -- I don't see those too often.

Mark Joyce
Too bad about the construction issues, Pete, but the final result looks great. Cheers, Mark

Cheers, Mark I've just seen @markmcguire25 P-40, he doesn't seem to have had the problems I experienced. I think it may be down to my sausage fingers! markmcguire25
The cowling guns dropped in fairly easily. BUT... the cowling inserts themselves required a TON of dry fitting and sanding, and still didn't fit perfect in the end. In fact, these two inserts were the only pieces that weren't click-fit perfect. Perhaps in getting these to fit, you inadvertently altered the fit of the guns? Either way, the finish is superb and I dig the Red Star camo! Edited January 16, 2019 by markmcguire25 sp
28ZComeback
Love the paint scheme—brown cowl and overall green. So Russian!

It was a scrat certainly, I probably lacked the patience! I assume Airfix did it like that so they could do different versions. It wouldn't put me off doing another, just need to be more careful!
