Zvezda 1/72 Mi-24V/VP Hind E

Recommended Posts

Hello Britmodellers! 👋

That’s me again... Actually, I don’t intend to start this WIP thread because it’s a very slow and experimental (again) build. I open this box from time to time and work for 20-30 minutes - so don’t expect the regular updates.

But let it be here:

It’s a well-known kit, I bought it a few years ago during my hiatus. It’s a first boxing and when I looked at this I just can’t resist:

I was amazed how detailed the kits are today (I can’t touch any about the ten years)... I immediately started work with a kit, but my perfectionism stopped the build and all was stored in the box. Last spring I followed the @CedB‘s thread during my work on a Voodoo:

...and I decided to look inside the box: the cockpit was practically done - why not to give it another try?!

It’s a some kind of a patriotic build, as a some time ago I purchased an odorless acrylic paints from Zvezda:

The colors are not so bad, except the metallics - OK, let’s try to get the best of them. Also I purchased an exterior PE set from Microdesign and the resin wheel set from ARMATA-MODELS.RU:

Some subassemblies are done and some parts are in the progress now:

The cockpit was done a year or so ago:

And I was ready for an engines installation:

An engines and the VR-24 reductor dry-fitted at the moment:

That’s all for today, thanks for watching! 🤝

Thanks! A lot of details here, it’s would be enough even for 1/48.

Lovely start. I don’t own any Zvezda kits but I have been tempted are they good?

This one looks great so far.

ill tag along if that’s ok.

John.

ps. I’m loving that white cutting mat. Spotless. 😮

That kit looks excellent.  I was once lucky enough to take fuel at an airfield in Africa and found a Hind taxying in ahead of me.  Each of us had a good crawl over the other’s aircraft, and the Hind definitely dwarfed my Lynx!  What a monster!

This is a beautiful kit, Johnny!

Thanks for an interest! But... Water-based acrylics with a Contacta glue + some time caused some (practically, total) separation of the cargo bay walls/roof during the placement cabin into the fuselage, so the build stopped at this time. Maybe, I’ll need a little mojo to re-assemble some parts. 😑

I just don’t paint on it. 😉

Yes, with a very recognizable sound!

@The Spadgent, @Ex-FAAWAFU - you’re making me pull it off the shelf again, I think.

Thanks guys! 🤝

Hello friends,

this morning I suddenly decided to fix the broken interior by collapsing the fuselage halves:

Sorry for the clamp-busy picture, but what a beautiful snowy landscape outside:

Cheers! 😎

Hold on tight....

Hello @Silenoz, thanks!

Actually, it has a great fit and I must say that the all dry-fitted cockpit parts are in secure position.

I leave it for the day, so we’ll see tomorrow! 👍

Is the forward fuselage separated OOB or did you cut it off?

It’s a three separate parts (the floor and the walls).

12 hours ago, USS_ESSESS said:

If so, is there a special reason for it?

The reason is to make a different versions available (there is some minor and major differences in the forward fuselage section between the Hinds).

Cheers! 🙂

Hello Britmodellers! 👋

This morning I decided to perform a small step forward and the starboard side of the fuselage now looks like this:

47112065712_dee3737642_k.jpg

Just a few drops of an Extra Thin Cement and all the parts take its place.

The port side just dry-fitted yet, and after some trimming it would sit well, I think:

Thanks for watching! 🙂

Hello guys! 🤝

The forward fuselage part was assembled surprisingly fast and with a lot of mojo:

Now it looks very promising, with a front canopy dry-fitted:

Also I added some PE parts and I like it a lot:

Those PE parts look amazing and the nose fit is really good.

Yes, I didn’t expect such a quality from it. These parts are thin and well-designed, so it’s a pleasure to glue them on! It would be very interesting to see all these parts attached and painted - I’ve never had so many PE parts.
