Well i can tell you that normal cadburys dairymilk here, is not the same as the one in the uk. Ours seems more... Flat, is that the right word?  The original is far more milky and tasty...

I wouldn't know Marty, as I'm not a fan of Cadbury. Give me Galaxy everytime, except if I could travel back in time and have a bar of (bare in mind now that the memory isn't what it used to be) Fry's Five Boys chocolate; two layers of milk with plain sandwiched in between. Luverly.

This may come as a shock but Fry's are making Five Boys bars again, saw some in the supermarket up here at Catterick garrison just before Christmas, not sure its the same as you describe as I am in the same club (no sugar) as Mad Steve.

The EU describes UK chocolate as "chocolate flavoured vegetable fat". :fraidnot: And Cadbury's is now owned by a US Company.

Right you chaps in those foreign climes, pay attention.

Does this count as an anti-grump?

As an aside

I said in the last thread that I was taking SWMBO to Bluewater...………….

Well I made it and I am back in one piece.

Must be a record...……….. and I paid attention in M&S.

Five Boys Chocolate? These days that sounds like a decidedly 'dodgy' name.

When I were a lad Cadbury's chocolate had a flavour that was like no other chocolate and was instantly recogniseable to the tastebuds. Nowadays it tastes pretty much like any other chocolate, it's long since lost that certain 'something' that made it stand out.

Vesta, that brings back memories. I remember those weird sort of pasta-like strips that you stuck in the frying pan and they puffed up like strange, slightly too hard, quavers. Were those meant to really represent some form of oriental food? I certainly have never seen such a thing outside of a Vesta packet meal.

The words Vesta and curry shouldn't be said in the same sentence:weep:

Shhhh...... Don't mention Cadbury that is a topic that could go 'super-nova' in regard to how the flavour has changed in recent years.

Unlikely, it's already been done... :)

What I will grump about is not being able to find any Cadburys Old Jamaica, or boxes of Hazelnut Whirls in the supermarkets any more.....

Some years back I was travelling to a match with a couple of my ex-rugby-playing buddies. We all had a good moan about things generally and decided that when we were older, we'd get an allotment with a bench. Not grow anything, just sit on the bench and moan.

This is my bench.

That's because H&S shut down the pirate trade.

All that swinging about on ropes, sharp swords etc.

Not to mention wooden legs. Lethal on a wet deck!

'Ere you! I'll have you know, me Dad trained at Catterick......

before it was called the Garrison, part of it was still RAF!

The army let him loose with a Lloyd carrier!

Ian, your looking in the wrong shop! Try B&M...............AND they have proper size Fry's chocolate creams and Peppermint creams....in multi packs! Sadly, nowt can be done about the taste of the 'new' Cadbury chocolate. Last thing I heard was that the founder had moved four cemeteries, he's spinning that hard.

If you haven't been to Catterick Garrison in the last umteen years, it's got the the best selection of shops for miles, and they nearly had another RAF bit, If RAF Leeming had closed rumour was the Army would have taken it over and called it Catterick South.

A nice dark chocolate digestive or Hob Nob would be nice. Oh wait a minute, you don't have any nice digestives or Hob Nobs do you. Never mind.
