Very interesting, I see they've re-issued some very old toolings. A00741V Astronauts is certainly a blast from the past. 1:35 scale military modellers should be pretty happy this year. Personally I like the look of that costal command in wimpy in 1/72.

Sorry, Airfix - seriously underwhelmed. The only ones that really grab me are the 1:48 Tiger Moth  and Hunter F.4. I may grab a Wimpey VIII to do the Coastal Command version - maybe. The Sea Vixen could have been an FAW.1, or at least included alternative parts; the Heron is a long way from state of the art and deserved a new tool. And STILL no Beaufort!!

EDIT: OR Venom!

Are there (or have there ever been) any aftermarket resin or brass sets for the P61? I remember building it as a youngster when the lack of detail wasn’t an issue but now as a pensioner it is and I’d like another go at it.

Pretty good selection to be fair; bit nostalgic but love to see the old Roy Cross artwork again.  Will probably pick up some of the older stuff, the Jetstream in particular.  New tools, the Moth, must sort a JBOT, Thunderbird 6 sheet :)

At the present time, just glad to see the new toolings and new boxings; something is really so much better than nothing.

There seems to be a current fashion to decry any new release as boring or a missed opportunity or the wrong scale or whatever else anyone can possibly find to moan about but I can honestly say I'm delighted by this. It's going to be an expensive but highly enjoyable year for me :)

We should celebrate what there is not decry whats not there. Yes there is some good stuff there from Airfix. I really like the 1.48 Tiger Moth.

I wonder where all those 1/35 armour kits have come from? Previous indications have been that it was not an area Airfix were going to develop, so this is a bit of a departure. I presume that these must be repackaged kits from another manufacturer which Airfix haven’t done for a while. Does anyone know their origin?

The Tiger Moth is, without any doubt, a very good new.......It's been decades since we've been waiting for an injected plastic, mainstream one......Been keeping a few Aeroblub kits as a precious trasure....it's time to start buiding them...

Regarding the 1/35 AFVs...are their own mouldings, or anyone elses' plastic????

Cheers...

As far as I can see there's hardly anything new there other than the new kits we already new about like the Hellcat.

1/48th Tiger Moth and 1/72 Mig 17 And Buccaneer

Well it's the Buccaneer that's got me exited and is very welcome. I'm intrigued by the B-17G re-release with new markings. I hope that this includes the early tail turret which would allow an olive drab/neutral gray scheme provided they chose one of the 220 Douglas built aircraft with the staggered waist windows (as per the kit) that were built before the switch to natural metal.

Still, a 1/72 Buccaneer! time to buy some more EDSG.

yyy?    (just kidding)

New tool Buccaneer looks interesting. Wonder if that means a new tool Op Granby S2B boxing will be waiting in the wings ?

Lots in the list to be happy about, looks like 2019 could get expensive.

Total disappointement... Still: No Hurricane Mk.IIC 1/48, still no long nose Blenheim, still absence of New tool Vulcan. MiG-17 - niice, but only 1 variant 😕 Quarter scale Tiger Moth - very good - but that is really all ?! I hope in another quarter scale RAF bomber...and nothing ! Hornby don't need a £ ?

I probably buy a one Tiger Moth and car scale Hellcat, maybe Griffon powered Spit...

And yet, life goes on...

There are a lot of people about with half empty glasses. Bearing in mind the troubles Hornby/Airfix have been through can't we be just a little bit happy?

I think the most surprising thing about the new range is the 1/35 Armour.

Also the F.4 /F.5 Hunter is nice and a surprising appearance I would have thought a FGA.9 would have appeared first...

With all the stories of financial woes, I expected to be underwhelmed. However, it seems i may just have to buy a fair enough share of kits to help them out of their dilemma! Maybe even get one a month starting with the Typhoon, JP and Skyhawk, then the Spit XIV, Tiger Moth and Hellcat and wait for some of the vintage and the Bucc to show up.

Really hope that they get plenty profits to plough into a bumper New Tool bonanza in 2 or 3 years time!

The 48th P-51 must be a real money spinner if they are onto what i think is the 4th and 5th boxing!

Arabest,

Geoff.

I certainly find the Airfix Classics range alluring, particularly the WWII British Army and RAF Personnel SETS (definitely more so than when Airfix announced the first bunch) Surprised that the 'leaked' Wellington II wasn't in there instead of the VIII as that seemed like a dead cert

@Julien have you included stuff announced last year. I only ask because your list has stuff that I don't from today's announcement.

this was just a list I saw posted up.

Well looking at the 3D renders of the Buccaneer you can see the wingtips are represented in a different shade - which suggests to me they represent alternative / separate parts. Good news as I recall for Operation Granby, Buccaneers were fitted with old-style S.1 wingtips for a smoother ride over the flat desert floor. So that looks a very likely future boxing option, unless... an actual S1 is planned! 🤔
