Sold I want a polish variant and this just checked the boxes.

It was clear by the pylons and the couple of MARS rocket pods that a Lim-5 was to be next.

I just hope that at least some aftermarket comes out so we can be able to make the Lim-6bis fighter-bomber version.

A missed opportunity, Lim-6 bis is much more interesting !

More interesting to you maybe but more limiting in terms of users and would require new parts.  I think Airfix have done the right thing here.

I take it this is essentially just different decals as the rocket pods are already in the original kit.

It would appear thus, yes.

Looking at the profiles on the Airfix website yesterday, they showed the fin of the Lim-5 retirement aircraft as a single shade of blue, Hi-Decal show it as three shades of blue, photos back this up.

A room for aftermarket conversion, I am sure that it will appear...

However, the most interesting for aftermarket is Lim5M (60 produced) with twin wheels in main u/c and modified (thicker)  wings near fueselage

That's a good shout J-W and would certainly address the wing issues present within this kit.

Either from scratch or just build the vacuform mentioned.

Today it's available there https://allegro.pl/oferta/lim-5-m-broplan-10516672647

The highest bid at the moment is around £ 12, and the auction ends on Easter Sunday.

Cheers

Lim-5M: a pig of an aircraft, according to what I've read.  I understand what the engineers were trying to accomplish, but they executed it rather poorly.  Of course, the Soviets limited what the Polish aircraft industry could do, so there you are.

  • Homebee changed the title to 1/72 - Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F "Fresco-C" by Airfix - released - new boxing Lim-5 in 2021

The meaning of inscription is "The last flight" - this is a farewell flight special schemes. The regular one  were either camouflaged or alu dope

I quite like that East German scheme. Funnily enough, I've never looked twice at this new tool Airfix kit, however that boxtop has caught my eye!

Cheers.. Dave

Has anyone seen the sprue shots of this release yet? I'm assuming that there must be an additional sprue with the later ejection seat as only the first few hundred produced had the KK-1 seat.

AFAIK the NVAF option in the previous boxing should feature the KK-2 seat as well.

Cheers,

Andre
