Quote

Wellington C Mark IA, N2990 'NQ-D' "Duke of Cornwall", of No. 24 Squadron RAF, on the ground at Hendon, Middlesex. N2990 was one of a number of passenger transport conversions from bombers, which served with No. 24 Squadron in 1943 and 1944. The cabin windows have been removed, and the gun turrets replaced by turret-shaped fairings, suitably painted and fitted with dummy guns to deceive would-be attackers.

though the embed codes gets the mid image

replace the 'mid' with 'large'

Rather an optimistic idea. 'Deceiving would be attackers' with dummy guns. After the first pass the fighter pilot would think: 'This is my lucky day'.

... after he had stopped laughing!
