MacW
"Spare parts box" has always been THAT magic spot, where you return to sanity... Go on, Alexey! You're doing a great piece of modelling art.

Pin
Yes, I have seen it and it was quite inspirational. I almost bought the kit

Romeo Alpha Yankee
Nice to see this one in work again Alexey, the detail work on those engines is superb
Pin
Unmasked for cleanup and remasking From the very beginning I felt something was wrong about the nose. After some studying I came to sad conclusion that the shape of the kit is incorrect and cannot be fixed without major surgery. The cockpit is too far aft. There is a risk that if I attempt to correct it this build will never be finished
Wez
Pin, are you making the lovechild of an aircraft, a boat and a bus shelter? Good work so far, really impressive!
Pin
Rather an aircraft, a boat and a greenhouse.

JOCKNEY
That's a very brave thing to do Alexey, I doubt many of us on here would have undone all that previous work, but then we would have had a lifetime of looking at the completed model regretting not having corrected it ! Look forward to seeing the next instalment Cheers Pat

Pin
Some proper engineering. Revived my SketchUp skills to create a fold for the new greenhouse nose Printed the fold, cut paper version to verify the model Cut transparencies from clear styrene sheet Also decided to correct the shape of the nose and cheekbones. MilliPut to the rescue Eventually the greenhouse is in place. Still a lot of filling, sanding and polishing ahead
Marklo
Brave man and well caught. I must admit if it were me it would upset me every time I looked at the model to know it was incorrect.

occa
Wow that's some proper modern day modelling. What awesome solution for the greenhouse, very fascinating. What CAD software are you using ? Edit: Oh I see it's SketchUp, the folding feature is very neat. Cheers Martin

Pin
Clumsy me has hit the nose, something got loose inside Glued it back, remasked Tried to add some variation to the black bottom with various shades and heavy chipping fluid. Did not work very well, seems more like a bad paintwork than deliberate art effect Proud French tricolor, these boats never wore Vichy's "pajamas of shame" I run out of Alclad Dull Aluminium. Ordered more but it is not clear when the resupply mission would arrive 9

Pin
Time for KUTA. Blown the dust from the plane, blown some "dull aluminum" on the wing. Because of its size I haven't found proper roundels that are 60mm in diameter. The plan is to print my own but I could not find transparent paper so I ordered more. I find that printing roundels on a transparent paper and applying over the white background works better than printing on white mostly because some toner/ink will inevitably go off on the edges.

Pin
Attaching a large parasol wing is quite challenging and I could not help thinking that something is not quite right After studying existing references and some measurements I realized that the central pillars are 4 mm too short. Original kit plans are way off Old pillar for comparison I need to fill in old strut mounting points and repaint the wing
Pin
The wing has sucked a lot of my blood but 2/3 of supporting struts are now in place and the structure is secure enough to remove additional support Is it the biggest KUTA duo ever?
