airfixpeter
Oh god what have i done probably the biggest project of my life. I have always fancied one of these I haven't decided on the version but most likely to have d day stripes. On opening the box it was stuffed to gills with all sorts of goodies. Here's what is in the box. Edited January 23, 2019 by peterairfix
crobinsonh
Watch out for the large level of clean up required - lots of ejector marks and mould lines. I am just starting the painting after spending several hours cleaning everything up. Don't get me wrong I think this will be an amazing kit when finished and it has a LOT of detail out of the box. Looking forward to your updates.
airfixpeter
After what seemed an age of cleaning mould seems I have finished off the first page of construction and here's the result.

airfixpeter
Here's the next round of pictures I have added the seat and and a few other bits plus I have done the pilot witch I don't normally do. And this takes care of page two. And I have purchased a set of masks for the roundels and larger numbers and letters.

Biggles87
Bon courage as we say in these parts. I keep looking at mine in the box but that's as far as I get. John 2

spitfire
More temptation to plan a Typhoon build in for next year, but no I will resist and watch your build instead. Cheers Dennis
Christer A
A big Tasty Tiffy? What's not to like? Cockpit looks fine, especially with a Pilot in it. If you're going for a closed engine, makes sure to follow the correct set of instructions. There are a lot of pipes that you won't need. 1
airfixpeter
I have decided to go with the engine on show option and here's what it looks like so far
BIG X
Nice work Pete. I've been watching my good friend @Lawzer building one too - they both look amazing. Keep up the good work, Steve
Lawzer
Looking swish! Be prepared to try and grow an extra hand to get some of the bits of pipework fitted 😁 Some musings (least from my progress so far): steps 55 and 56 - test fit BOTH the cable bundles before gluing anything... step 67 / 68 - i found it impossible to fit part d01 (better people than me have managed - ) - ended up using a bit of insulation from a cable steps 113 / 114 - i test fitted the main canon part (before attaching part f35 to the cannons) through the wing spar and it was fine. with f35 fitted no go so had to drill out a bit of F01 and F02 - easier to do if spars not glued in place...... steps 97 / 100 = make sure the parts are fitted PERFECTLY as otherwise the lower wingtips don't fit right (my own fault.....) Looking forward to seeing the progress! 👍
airfixpeter
Must be my lucky day as a friend gifted me his almost complete Tiffy so I will be using as a test bed for my camouflage masks and roundel masks. Although the decals are missing and the landing gear has gone South but a usable model me thinks. Edited January 16, 2019 by peterairfix

airfixpeter
No you are not seeing things this is the one that was gifted to me so I will be using it as a test bed so I can get the paintwork correct on my other build and after a couple of days masking and painting I have achieved something that I am pleased with. Bigdave22014
They do look much nicer sprayed on than with decals, especially with the colour variation possible in this scale.
