general melchett
Quote I believe the person being challenged has the choice of weapons in which case I bags the Armstrong Whitworth Canonette. Ha, no sah, you have been cruelly deceived...there was a rule change in 1825 decreeing that it was now the challenger who had the choice of weapons in these matters...much like the incident involving my illustrious ancestor, Arthur Melchett-Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, in his infamous contre tant with that renown dullard, George, Prince Regent, (or in this case his misguided stand-in, Mr E Slackbladder)...and we all know how well that ended! I'm afraid you'll have to put up with a pair of purple feather dusters... Prepare for wax! 1

The Spadgent
Good afternoon gents, hope you had a spiffing week. I’m glad you’re enjoying the build. I have a little more to offer you so without further ado. I began by giving the internals a light spray of light blue. A added a bit more blue this time. not bad but still a little heavy on the pre shade so I gave it another blast. better. 😇 while that dried all the other bits and bobs got a coat. Blue on the canopy, gloss on the rotors. I then hit the rotors with Vallejo extreeeeeeme metallics. Mmmmm shiny. I’ll need to full that down. Next up we’re the seats. I’m trying to be a good boy in the wallet department so I couldn’t justify the lovely resin seat set I’ve seen for this kit. I figured I’d paint them and see. hmmmm a bit bare.😔 Not to worry, Scratch man to the rescue. 🤹♂️ Scratch man throws caution to the wind, along with Accuracy and goes for a decent shot at detail. belts like this first from doubled up Tamiya tape painted grey. Top belts draped and thrown to the middle. Looking good. The next few steps didn’t get any pics so straight To a Flory washed seat. Right! Happy with that. Soooo three more to go. I took pics of the layer steps this time. Lower belts fitted. I used tin foil to make the little covers. And added. Then painted. Flory wash added and popped into the interior section. Yay!! happy with that. Right gotta go and do some chores. More later. Thanks for popping in. Tooddle pip. Johnny. The Spadgent
Thanks for all your kind words. I have a little more done on the old wobble box we have hit sanding so nowt too interesting but I think the next few steps will be quite straight forward. Right? 🤔 Any hoo while I was waiting for top coats to dry etc I did a little Flory action on the inside walls. Nice even coverage with just a hint of streaking. Just what I was after. I then rubbed away with a bit of sponge from a brassin kit. hetes the roof with the decal dacco treated. The side walls got a bigger rub down. quite extreme but I wanted some good contrast. I started sticking the parts together, roof first. As you can see the rotor unit got some vas and was then added to the top. It seemed a bit fragile until I added this bit to hold it all together. that top section pushes the whole thing down and pins all the little cogs in place. 😃 The main office then got glued in on the other side. Dont worry about those pin marks they won’t get seen, they’re behind the console, however the middle bit is seen from one of the windows hence the wash. I needed clamps to hold it all in place regardless of the great fit. After drying both sides got brought together. pretty darn good. I added some ppp but after primer there is still a seam that needs fixing. So out with Mr Surfacer. And then sanding and priming yields this. not bad but it’ll need another sand before I’m happy. Before I finished up for the night I thought I’d dry fit the main tail parts. coool!!!! 😎 gotta Skedaddle. Thanks for dropping by. Take care chaps and as always. Happy Modelling. Johnny boy.

Thanks. a few little dribs and drabs tonight. I got the engines on and the canopy got stuck down with gators grip as I wasn’t happy with taping it in place to do the sanding as I might need to fill around the clear part. Also lost an entire tail section to the carpet monster for a full ten minutes. how on earth. 🤷♂️🤣 Remenber I said I was on a budget this month? Well I kinda spoilt it at the LMS in Brum today. I saw this and simply had to pick it up. it seemed to be a really great price. I couldn’t find it cheaper anywhere so I snapped it up. I’ve always wanted to make this since I was little. Upon opening the box I found. wowza. Bargain at £24.99 for that lot. I see silver in my future. Any hoo im off to bed. sweet dreams you lot and thanks for all the interest in the Flying Piano.
