The Spadgent
Hey kids. It’s been a busy week. Back to work as the hand gets better, a new office in the Center of the city and a different model choice for the next kit. All will be revealed. 😮 Before that, this! Sunday morning started like this. My girls lay the best eggs.😍 Then I painted all the lights and things that needed to be red. And the exhausts got a bit of silver. then another top coat ready for oil stains. I do love the light I get in the cave on Sunday mornings. All the last few bits got primed and pre shaded. The little bits got a coat of grey. The props got a light coat on the top. then masked. Then a darker coat was added. I really couldn’t wait so masking got wipped off. nice and crisp. Unlike my fingers. 🤣 talking of my hand I noticed something popping out of the holes where the stitches had been removed. Luckily I got some tweezers eh. I think the nurse pulled it the wrong way and the knot got caught in my hand. Not a massive stitch but I’m glad it’s out. I used a hairy stick to do the tips. Then gloss coated everything ready for a Flory wash. The next few hours was spent fixing a few things on our new camping buddy. Those who have followed my older builds will know of Bob our 1981 Sprite Caravan. Well Bob has found a new family had a sex change. He is now called Betty and is enjoying new adventures with her new owners up North. 🤗 So let me introduce Geoff. What with the lovely weather coming I spent some time fixing a few little bits and pieces on our new 1:1 scale beauty.😍 After that I’d had an urge to build some different kits after the X-wing interlude. I bought the colonial Viper as you saw while I was away, I also picked up the Cylon Raider which I’ll do lighting for too.... but I couldn’t resist starting this baby. I have never made a car before and this is my only kit but Daym if it ain’t going to be great fun to build. I’d love if you could hop along for a ride when I start the thread. 😍 look it’s got chrome bits and everything. soooooooo shiny. Any way enough distractions for one post let’s get back to the Helix. Last night the rotors and bits got a Flory wash and brush off. I like that 😎. Then I did a dry fit of some blades before I finished up for the night. I’m really loving her shape. really glad I chose the simple grey I think lots of colours would have detracted from the form where as the little accent colours are really working. Looking forward to the last bits of weathering and the masks coming off. Not long now. 😀 Thanks for dropping in guys It’s been a real pleasure. Until next time....Happy Modelling. corsaircorp
Nice job Johnny Torino !! Erase that chrome, start buying Bare metal foil, It's far better... This chrome did'nt like glue, and when you cut the part from the sprue… Surprise ! Great choice of kit, did you saw my Chevy ?? Ah your own egg production !! That's great and I really miss it But we have too much foxes and weasels !! Really like your flying piano !! One Sir Elton John would be pride of !! Congrats too for the rotor blades !! Sincerely. CC Oh and welcome to Geoff, Diesel or gasoline ? Look really good !! CC 3

Bugle07
The piano is tuned and ready! She looks up for a symphony! Agree with you, the grey just brings out the egg shape of the wokka and the reflected light really makes it realistic. Or is that the eggs? Is it dinner time now? Like the new camperwaggon, not sure on the name tho. Almost done, and what a job! Geoff
f111guru
Everything about this kit is certainly stunning. I'll have to find that Floiry stuff you use to weather your kits. It does a smashing job on those kits. Thanks to the nurse you have a whip antenna. Oooooh ouch! I have a 1:1 scale 1957 Chevy 210 Sedan in the works. But won 't be critical on your build. Great choice. Small block 350CI with a street tunnel. Ron VanDerwarker
Bigdave22014
Very nice work on the wokka. Got to agree though, strip that chrome (a soak in plain bleach works fine) and redo it. I would recommend Alclad2 for that, I know you have the skills to produce a lovely smooth surface as a base.

Can't beat em (ha ha see what I did there .... er ok ), but where's the marmite soldiers? PS CC's right, ditch the chrome plate plastic and opt for BMF. Much more realistic. 1

Brandy
I have to agree on stripping the chrome. I did on both my Airfix Blower Bentley and the latest car I started, the Matchbox Mercedes SSKL. It was not a smooth finish and blocked a lot of the moulded detail too. However if it looks ok on your kit there is no reason not to keep it.
