Well that was the quickest build I ever did.

And a very nice one, too! Looking very smart, with the display base and all! :worthy:

I do hope the paw is healing well dear boy.

The bare necessities of life are still coming to you by the look of that perspicacious pigmentation on the Helixcopter. Bravo!

Good evening you lot. I gave the old right paw a rest yesterday and today as I had an appointment to get the bandage removed today. While resting I decided I needed a new cutting mat as the old one was getting a bit warn out. I think I made a bit of an error with the size.

46372049814_4aa0aba687_b.jpg

🤣 I thought my old one was A1. I was wrong. With a bit of a tidy it fitted well enough.

47043399622_bf9547a7ed_b.jpg

I’ve been toying with the idea of different colour schemes but I really want to do some nice weathering and oil spills so I think the base grey will be a better canvas  for that. I’ll do some panel variation and some wires and possible some ties but I’m planning on keeping the base colours simply that and enjoying the awkward and beautiful shape.

I mixed up a warm blue/grey with a mixture of 2:1 in favour of the grey.

first pass.

47043399412_83c470d567_b.jpg32153824407_dcd48fcced_b.jpg

I also painted the bits and bobs.

47043399552_582b9b8867_b.jpg

Here with pass two and a gloss coat. I’m adding the gloss as I’m going to do the variation and black panelling masks tomorrow and I really don’t want to risk any paint lift.

I think as s base that’ll work really well, just the right amount of shading. I have seen some orange accenting on the rotors so I think I’ll do that to really make her pop later on.

I left the bench like this. I fear any more fettling on Valentines night would have me not in great favour with Mrs Spadgent. So with that I’ll bid you all goodnight. I hope you’re all having a splendid week.

Tale care and as always. Happy Modelling.

Good afternoon you lot. It’s been a busy few days, the bandage came off and everything seems to be ok Paw wise. Which is nice.😊

I have been diddling along with the Helix in dribs and drabs but have only just managed to post, so here goes.

first off after the gloss coat I masked for the black exhaust panels.

40160776083_a55da7a1c6_b.jpg

And sprayed.

47073364772_bf1cd55f40_b.jpg

Pretty good finish but I decided to touch up that rim section. Oooh missus.

40160776413_6822035739_b.jpg

Is stood out and looked odd.

47125612571_e1abf6fa18_b.jpg

nice and crisp though. I hang painted the intakes as there were easy rims to follow.

I have seen someone else add some wiring to the rotor hub so I decided to copy it as it looked cool.

32183607937_5c7faea092_b.jpg

I painted the lead wire with Tamiya gloss red. When dry I glued the ends to the hub ready to be bent into place.

Other tasks included cleaning the chickens now my bandage is off.

47073365062_938913389a_b.jpg

The girls are now happy. So decals!

46423299264_1db2a211f3_b.jpg

They don’t look like many but there really are.😣

47094460512_1f73d13113_b.jpg

look!!!! Faaasands.  Yes it only looks like three but there are more than three.

46232429045_d061500d7e_b.jpg

glossed again and waiting for a Flory base wash. While waiting I cut off the last few bits. Won’t be long now.

46232427275_1617a583d4_b.jpg

I lost one of these golf club thingies so I made another one.😮 The lower rotor got some wire action.

46423299124_13e2602ed0_b.jpg

and the top one got started.

47094459012_cf6e66c04c_b.jpg

So this is what is left. Apart from weathering.

33271436998_8e264feba4_b.jpg

oh I painted the wheels too.

Also I might have got a bit excited while making the x-wing and made an inspired purchase.

46232429205_0c4f418cab_b.jpg

I also bought some LEDs and wires to light the mother. 😱squeeee.

Anyway, thank you all for popping in for a nice cup of tea.

more soon.

Johnny.

Lovely job!

A little Dr Who-ish with those red wires all over the place, but no doubt once they're all connected it'll add that little "je ne sais quoi".

Try typing that with auto correct on!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys, it warms the cockles so it does. 🤗

mover the last day or so in between thing I have managed some more on the Helix.

Here is the Flory going on.

32228765547_8627a3cfc2_b.jpg

and totally covered.

47118614212_9ab7586fbe_b.jpg

part of me actually likes it like this but I can feel our green multi ocular friend @Martian Hale spinning in his Spence ship so out with the buds and cloths.

47170622781_49d359f7e7_b.jpg

there’s a bit cleaner.

40205700763_bdf03128e8_b.jpg

and knocked right back, I left her overnight to get fresh eyes on it the next day.

I took the sponge out to match the weathering and knocked a bit more off.

33295327738_7fc0e2b411_b.jpg

Closer you can see the dirt level I’m after.

46256463555_9eef5d3a4b_b.jpg

And the tail.

33295327928_3ee6898295_b.jpg

Happy with that for now so I moved onto the UC.

47170625791_167d0fbf93_b.jpg

And then on with the pipes.

32228765617_752eb2d028_b.jpg

And the front pegs.

33295331268_752eb2d028_b.jpg

The wheels then got popped on.

she’s on her wheels. :yahoo:

40205703743_2ed06dc95c_b.jpg

Having a boost from the wheels I got some other little bits done, tail fins on.

47170625601_cc623ff66d_b.jpg

Rotors wired with red accent wires and test fitted.

46447021944_1446317efd_b.jpg

The last mystery parts got cleaned up and primed.

32228765647_752eb2d028_b.jpg

not that mystery huh? 😉 ok so just before I primed I had to fix a rotor blades I snapped off the little stuck things. I made new ones from plastic rod.

46447021784_530cddd733_b.jpg

don’t worry I trimmed them back.

Cleaned and primed and on a stick.

47118616292_7ceb0b9603_b.jpg

Two more little probe? Wing mirrors? Added.

32228765067_3f7ef2c883_b.jpg

last few things will be : Paint the rotors and bits ‘n’ bobs. Weather them. Paint the lights and accent colours. Put everything together. Add filters, oil marks, chips etc. Mat coat unmask aaaand add the ruddy doors. 😃

If I’ve forgotten anything could someone point it out.

Thanks for popping in for a brew and a fiddle around with some plastic.

Take care and as always.

Happy Modelling.
