What about doing an conversion of an Tamiya or Airfix F-4D Skyray to an F-5D Skylancer? How hard would it be? Its longer with thinner wings, coca cola shaped fuselage and with an different canopy (can be ordered from Anigrand).

The Anigrand F-5D looks fine but is rather expensive these days including shipping...

Andre,

Maintrack did a  vacform in their Project X range that is very good- comes with white metal parts; I have one and it looks very good. Ginter Books did a monograph on it that has scale drawings and detail photos. The Maintrack kits do come up from time to time on that famous e-auction site, so you might check periodically. You might look for reviews of the Anigrand kit before buying one, as they have a propensity for spurious cockpit and wheel bay details. I don't think you want to try morphing an F4D into one, as there are a lot more differences than you might think. I think there is also a Warpaint on the Skylancer, but I'm not 100% sure.

Here's what the Maintrack kit bags/header cards looked like: I have both but haven't worked up enough courage to build either one!
