Gorby's 2018 Plastic Allsorts (but mainly wingy whatsits to be honest)

I made a particular effort to get more back to basics this year. I was getting too bogged down in detail and it was draining the mojo, but it's still not increased my output.

I've just worked out (using all my fingers and toes) that my modelling this year has cost me about £150 (approximately £50 of that was for the hangar dio). There's not many hobbies that keep you amused for an entire year for so little dosh.

AM Tech Ta-183 1/48 - Mojometer 7/10

A well moulded but quite a basic kit that I made quite a few improvements to. I couldn't resist a bit of 1/48 Luft-46. What-if scheme dredged from the deepest parts of my brain, with most of the markings done with home-made stencils.

Trumpeter Me-509 1/48 - Mojometer 7/10

A well moulded but quite a basic kit that I made quite a few improvements to. I couldn't resist a bit of 1/48 Luft-46. What-if scheme dredged from the deepest parts of my brain, with most of the markings done with home-made stencils. Oh, I've just had a 'deja vu' moment!

Zvezda Pe-2 1/48 - Mojometer 6/10

An exceptionally good kit, but probably a bit too complicatedly bitty for my taste.

Brengun Yokasuka MXY7 OHKA model 22 1/48 - Mojometer 7/10

A well moulded but quite a basic kit that I made quite a few improvements to. I cou …... I'm doing it again.

Italeri Kfz. 385 Tankwagen 1/48 - Mojometer 7/10

Built with the intention of using it in my final build of the year. Nice kit that I added a lot of extra detail (so much for going back to basics).

Scratch built Hangar diorama 1/48 - Mojometer 9.5/10

My second diorama was probably my most challenging and without my most enjoyable build since I returned to modelling. Very please how it's turned out so feeling a bit smug.

I'm in a bit of a quandary over next year, because somehow I've lost almost all of my decals. So home-made stencils may be a big part of my future modelling.

Thanks for having a look.

Glad you like them - thanks for dropping by. :)

I like the concept of the 'Mojometer' too -  not come across it before, factoring in the enjoyment quotient could well become the new 'thing' ...love the Ta 183, must investigate that one..

Thanks Neil. Apparently this is all supposed to be about fun (at times it doesn't feel like it) so the obsessive in me likes to quantify my enjoyment level.

The Ta 183 kit has just been re-released (I forget who by) - I can't resist a bit of Luft-46 oddness.

Lovely. All of them. But that dio; the GRASS. Blooming fantastic!

Thanks for noticing! It was the bit I was least looking forward to as I made a mess of the 'grass' on my first dio. This time I used four different colours/lengths of grass and took about a week to apply it in random patches and clumps. I'm quite pleased with the result, so thanks again for pointing it out.

Thanks Vince, glad you like them.

With the first two it was nice to just go with my fevered imagination rather than follow something that has already been done thousands of times before.

I'm a rebel me (:giggle:).

There is a theory that the Russians used the plans as a basis for the MiG 15, but as with all theories, some say that it's rubbish. This is the two of them together:
