JWM
Hi, I would like to join the GB with Consolidated Coronado by Mach 2. I know - the Mach 2 does not sound good for many. Byt I like all those small companies producing short-runs what makes wider the palette of available models. I hope to upload some photos very soon. I am thinking also of doing in parallel another Mach 2 - Martin Mariner... Regards J-W
JWM
I have made some photos: 1. Box art Inside of box: all parts of course needs some shaping - for example props: Transparents...: We will see how it will go out. I do not want to do too much openings and insides since I do not have documentation for it (and will ). I will just try to build a model more or less OOB with small improvments I hope. stevehnz
I'll be keen to see you bring this together Jerzy. I'm not likely to ever attempt one so I'm nominating you as my proxy. Steve.

zebra
This will be interesting! I expect it'll be a challenging build but at least the parts don't look as rough as the Mariner.
tonyot
Great choice,...... I have one of these planned in RAF Transport Command colours,..... good luck with this one mate! Cheers Tony
JWM
Thank you! Regarding the scheme - I am thinking on something like that (all from web page http://www.wings-aviation.ch/21-USNavy/000-Navy-Basis-e.htm) I am not sure, but I think that undersurfaces on above schemes painted light blue shoud be white. That one is also nice: Below are even nicer but with different variant with other configuration of side doors and windows Cheers J-W
Romeo Alpha Yankee
You have chosen a couple of interesting subjects for your GB entry J-W. I am a fan of the big flying boats. Looking forward to your progress.

JWM
Hi, A specific problem of my Coronado: some destorion of the float step on one of the fuselage half. To repair it cut out backward the step, glued there a plastic plate and start to reconstruct proper shapes using Tamiya filler I painted insides I worked on tail by sanding all inner surfaces and then glueing I opened also backs of engines fairings Here is real think: https://cdn10.picryl.com/photo/1990/03/01/as-seen-from-beneath-the-wing-of-a-pb2y-coronado-aircraft-three-visitors-to-ed6964-640.jpg In this link below is very interesting close up of cowling details and please look at the victory marking with some kind of nose art! http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/images/P/b/PB2Y_Coronado__closefront_full.jpg I worked a bit on surfaces (sanded, made engravings deeper) To be cont. JWM
Hi, After glueing in all small windows (using Humbrol Clearfix) I glued fuselge together. I had to finish pilot cockpit. Initially I/ve painted the instrument pannel as it was prepred by Mach 2 but then I've looked at photos of cockpit and ound that Mach 2 vision is only a vision... As you see on above I glued alredy wings with fuselage I gleued also tail together but not koined it with fuselage since first the rear turret should be placed in position. I realized, that rear turret of Coronado is same like of B24D and since i want to do my B24 D as CC Liberator Mk V (with BP turret) or early Mk I (with a different gunner position) I have spare Italeri/Academy tail gunner turret, which is far more transparent than the Mach 2 one (left and right, respectivly on photo below) Cheers J-W

JWM
Hi, I sterted to work on canopies, but first of all the side floats were glued in position: I glued the canopy It was polished using cotton cloth and then painted from inner side with Tamiya acrylic gloss varnisg diluted in alcohol (etanol, 96%) To be cont. zebra
You’re making very quick progress! People are going to start thinking Mach 2 kits aren’t unbuildable if you carry on like this!
JWM
After polishing of canopy it was also painted with diluted (in etanol) tamiya acryl gloss varnish . I amd adding now frames masking them rather one by one - it is less work since anly stright pices of tape are needed. Meanwhile I started to do a charakteristing enforcement of fuselage, just behind front turret. T do this I put many about 0.8 mm wide strips of Tamiya tape and cover it with putty. After about hour I removed tapes and gently sanded And the result: To be cont. Regards J-W
JWM
Hi, Time for engines & props. I reduced the diameter of short rods in back of props hubs which were suppouse to glue inside engine. I drilled out center of engines with 2 mm diameter drill (then a bit enlarged by pilling) and use 2 mm brass tube as propellers axes (glued with CA glue). The insided of cowlings was a bit sanded as the outsides of engines also. Please note that a scratch intakes on top of cowlings were added - similar to Catalina or early Liberator. It is here (above photo) not sanded yet , below are sanded and painted: The tail was glued I had to cut out fronts of engine supports since they were not too long, moreover they were forcing position of cowling agains the wing nacclles, which was not exactly aligned. I glued engines. All props are rotable (secured by a plastic rings in back of brass tubes) One can notice, that the asro dome I replaced by a flat round window as I found out on photos. The bottom was painted white. To be cont Regards J-W

JWM
Thnaks for comments! Coronado is almost finished: I added landing lamps, rods for controling side floats, exhaust pipes, yellow tips of prop blades (I have not added factory marks on props - on no photo I noticed presence of them...) and decals. Not too much left to finish. Hope to do it tomorrow Regards J-W
