Roman Schilhart
Dear fellow Britmodellers, my last finished build in 2018 is the 1/72 Hasegawa Fw-190D with the larger Ta-152 tail. The replacement tail is a resin item from Airwaves (SC72-117). Metal gun barrels from Master. Decals come from Eagle Cals (EC#58), representing a machine of III./JG 2, in 1945. Photo etch parts from Eduard. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. The model was painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics. Thank you very much for your interest, best greetings from Vienna! Seem you have done all your best to end the year with this beautiful build and really you have crowned the year in great style. I like how you have managed to go ahead with the build, liked a huge lot the way you finished the bird, the nie soft weathering and the White Face Tail Wheel you added here, simply superb!!! Thank you very much for sharing and wish you and all the BM people a Great, Wonderful and Very Happy New Year 2019 with plenty of great works to build, and we have the chance to admire and enjoy!!! RidgeRunner
Nice one, Roman. One question - not being a Fw expert - why the different tail? Martin

Martin Thank you for your interest Martin. A few "Doras" with larger Ta-152 tails were built in 1945 by the Mimetall factory at Erfurt (MME) in the 50xxxx serial range. Otherwise they were identical to standard Fw 190D-9’s. Some sources suggest that the larger Ta-152 tail was intended to become the standard fitting for all future Fw 190 production. However the war ended before this modification became widespread, and only a few examples seem to have been completed (I have photographic evidence of two machines only).
