Hi All

Home again home again, clippity clop!

The paintwork was looking good, unfortunate about it lifting. Only in the one spot I hope?

Yup, fortunately just that one spot.

I got it covered over, and you'd probably not notice it if you weren't looking.

I also got the leading edges done with Tamiya Rubber Black XF-85

Had a go at the engines

And put the stickers on.

They behaved remarkably well once the surrounding carrier film was cut away.

I started framing the turret with thin decal lines

And I did the tyres in Vallejo Air 71.315 Tire Black

The Vallejo had a lighter, almost greenish hue compared to Tamiyas' darker blue-ish tint.

Anyhoo, a coat of Pledge and some general tidying up should see it on its' way.

Comments and suggestions welcome

Cheers

Steve,

I like your work. You have given me some ideas. I am also currently working on an Aifix 1/72 Hudson. I am building it as A16-112. You are much further advanced than my progress and in a shorter period of time. Perhaps I am doing the “silk purse-sows ear”.

I have done the following

- sanded the rivets from the parts

- replaced the engines and nacelles (resin quick boost)

- created wing slats

- rebuilt and extended the cockpit floor and aft bulkhead

- made new control column

- made a navigator room

- made the tail aerilon into one piece

- reshaped the cockpit canopy (hot water - finger pressure - cold water to set the change)

- fixed the wing aerilons

- reshaped the bomb-bay doors

- in the process of fixing the “strange” BP turret (I don’t have a Halifax replacement)

I look forward to seeing more of your progress.

This is coming together beautifully Steve,I wouldn't have the patience!

Thanks Steve, it's more Experimental Curiosity than patience!

Hi Alan, I've been watching your conversion work, you're definitely going to end up with a silk purse, whereas I am just aiming for a pretty sows' ear.

Anyhoo, on with a Brown Flory Wash

(please work, please work, please work...)

And off again

Subtle, but that's a good thing considering the alternative.

I've given it a coat of W&N Matt Varnish and let it settle for a while.

Next, the great unmasking and bits adding!

Steve,

I think it will be a VERY pretty sows ear.

One other item I forgot to include was reshaping the fuselage door.

Anyhow, when I am up to where you are I will be revisiting you build to pick up on your ideas.

Hi All

I've let the matt coat dry for a couple of days, time for the great reveal

DSCF7438.jpg

All in all not too bad, a couple of touch-ups here and there, but nothing like the ammount that would have been, had I not dyed the PPP grey.

It would seem the matt isn't completely dry (but I'm impatient), so I'll leave it a little while longer

Hi All

I'm calling this done after the addition of its' legs and aerial cables

It's turned out mostly ok except for the cockpit canopy and masking, but on the positive side the use of dyed PPP has been a success round the side windows.

Thanks for the company, comments and suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Steve, as a confirmed old Airfix kit builder (I wish I could move on), I am in awe of the wonderful job you have done here in turning out a fantastic result. It's a beauty. Like everyone else, I've got this vintage Hudson tucked away and this build has made me try to think up a good excuse for getting it started. All the best. Mike.
