Transparencies and TET

Recommended Posts

I have seen clear parts fixed into models by using Tamiya Extra Thin applied very sparingly so that capillary action flows around the edges and doesn't fog the parts. I dip my canopies etc in Future and wondered if the TET still works with Future on the parts? I usually use PVA glue to fix clear parts but no matter how sparingly I apply it some always squishes inside turrets etc so wanted to try the above method

Thankyou for any advice

Afternoon, @beetcleaner would recommend avoiding extra thin with transparencies.

There are a few others you could try, examples:-

watch makers clear cement, gatorgrip, and another, called 580 something, sorry, brain is fudge at the mo!

Paul at Little Cars stocks at least two of them.

Extra thin is a very hot solvent and you can bet the second or third time you admire the completed kit is when you'll see the run, exactly where you can do nothing about it!

Best of luck,

Paul

Tamiya extra thin won't fog the parts like superglue fumes will, but will melt into any part on the glazing it comes into contact with. I have used it to fix canopies with no fogging.

It will melt through future just like it will paint.
