Old Viper Tester
T-38 70-1558, operated by the 6512th Test Squadron, 6510th Test Wing, Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB. On the Edwards main ramp, March 1981. Formation proficiency mission, July 1984. That's Rogers Dry Lake below. Air Force Systems Command (AFSC) badge added to the tail. On approach to Runway 22. The dashed lines on the lakebed indicate an emergency runway. The solid line is a reference for doing Tower Fly-By passes, a pitot static calibration technique. malpaso
Surely that's two different T-38s? 01558 and 88158 which I assume are FY 70-1558 and 68-8158? Or did they change the tail number so it's not the federal year serial or something? Lovely pictures by the way. That family of aircraft looks fast just standing still! Cheers Will Edited December 25, 2018 by malpaso Reguessed the FY for 88158!

Yes, they are two different aircraft and I got my two computer files confused. I've since separated them into two posts. As for the F-5/T-38 family, I agree, a very sleek and compact airframe design.
