T-38 70-1558, operated by the 6512th Test Squadron, 6510th Test Wing, Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB.

 

On the Edwards main ramp, March 1981.

Surely that's two different T-38s? 01558 and 88158 which I assume are FY 70-1558 and 68-8158?  Or did they change the tail number so it's not the federal year serial or something?

 

Lovely pictures by the way.  That family of aircraft looks fast just standing still!

Apparently I forgot to respond to you, Will. Yes, they are two different aircraft and I got my two computer files confused. I've since separated them into two posts.

 

As for the F-5/T-38 family, I agree, a very sleek and compact airframe design.
