Troy Smith
Spotted this over on evilbay.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hawker-Hurricane-Aeroplane-Model-Kit-Scale-1-48-Build-Play-NEW/202494806296 A new best in scale perhaps? be interesting to if any of it's usable.... anyone want to buy me one for Christmas cheers T PS I already clocked the A wing with C wing cannon openings, I suspect it's been copied off the retooled 1/32nd revell "IIC" where they added some new bits to their Mk.I kit... 1
tempestfan
The instructions seem to say 1:49...?!? OK then, A gun access panels with a C armament. What are those vortex generators on the inboard l/e? 4000lb 🍪 May be a touch too much. The „longitudinal wing armour“ is a bit overstated. I find the concept interesting, but couldn’t it have been a bit more like a scale model?

Fredag
To be fair, they don't specify what Mk. its supposed to be. Though they do seem somewhat visually dyslexic between the Hawker Spitfire and the Supermarine Hurricane. The stickers look interesting, i've not seen that font on RAF aircraft, looks somehow arabic?. Definite signs of what the Matchbox trench maker is doing in retirement...
Pete in Lincs
Oh, and it's PINK! Apparently it's kit No3. What happened to the other two? The Avro Mustang and Focke Schmitt.
Fredag
If you check the sellers listing in the link, the other 2 are the Corsair-ish and the 109-ish (comes fully painted and stickered! ) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Messerschmitt-BF-109-Aeroplane-Model-Kit-Scale-1-48-Build-Play-NEW/192715689070?hash=item2cdec00c6e:g:zkoAAOSweiFcG-DZ:rk:3:pf:0 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vought-F4U-Corsair-Aeroplane-Model-Kit-Scale-1-48-Build-Play-NEW/202494806314?hash=item2f25a1892a:g:lJEAAOSwckVcG-D0:rk:2:pf:0 The trenching on the 109-ish is ground breaking!...possibly not the Matchbox trencher, more resembling Cadbury chocolate bar style. Fredag
I think when you refer to the mk. of the 109-ish as boxing is E and kit is F, look at the brand. I think the model can be anything between A to Z!. Wheres that guy who used to do all the red lines, we need him on the case...;) Edited December 23, 2018 by Fredag

Plasto
I like em a lot. The simple reason being if they get kids or folk in general building stuff then they have served their purpose. What our hobby ( well the bit of it where folk actually build models) will need in future is a steady stream of people entering it. I personally don’t really mind what they build or how they start nor how good they are. But we need em..
Graham Boak
That doesn't mean that kids or folk in general deserve to be served up with a load of rubbish. They could equally well do the job whilst being decent replicas.

Getting folk building something is the key I personally don’t care if it’s a pink Spitfire / hurricane hybrid, RX78-2, a Meng cute tank kit or a Ma.K girl in overalls. Taking the time to build something daub paint on it or not and then build something else is the key. Once people are building there is then plenty of time to develop a critical eye, produce better stuff and take part in discussions on cowling shape and RAF 1941 colours... YMMV...

In that vein, some of the Pegasus Hobbies kits were reasonable, depending on what they based on, their Hurricane was based on the Hasegawa kit. They were pretty cheap for a while here too, I got a Hurricane new for £8 a few years ago. they can scrub pretty well https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235034391-pegasus-hobbies-148-hurricane-i/ I just posted up the kit as I'd not encountered it before, and was in a jocular mood hence the flippant comments. Though if anyone wants to buy me one I won't say no It would be interesting to see how it scales out.... cheers T

Jonners
It's a TOY! Aimed at kids who want something that looks like a fighter plane to put together and play with but who aren't interested in absolute accuracy. If the maker finds a market, then great. If you want an accurate model, then buy an accurate model. These aren't intended to be accurate models - they're TOYS! I never considered my Action Man Capture Copter to be inaccurate with out-of-scale accessories; it was just very cool and I played with it. A lot. 😉 Jon

Paul J
Oh no! Not another 'Hurrifire'. Mind you, its a good way to get younger folk interested in our hobby and they don't look too daunting for young minds and fingers.

Lawzer
I built a couple of the pegasus snap fix kits a while back (after my lovely wife bought me a job lot of kits off gumtree when i got back into this) and i must say i throughly enjoyed them. In fact @Troy Smith I think we had a VERY brief discussion about the hurricane..... So, I may ask the good lady for one of these for my birthday. If I do, I will keep you posted how I get on......😁
hoppie
Wierd stuff. That 109 E on the Box and the instruction is exactely the same as the boxart of the ICM 109 E. https://golloscdn.com/6371/Prod/2948717/icm-72132-messerschmitt-bf-109-e4.jpg And the F4u-5 is from Revells Boxart: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/111399-revell-04143-f4u-5-corsair And the F4u-1 illustration on the instructions looks a lot like the old academy boxart. Shenanigans are afoot 🤔 Edited December 24, 2018 by hoppie 1
