perdu Posted January 1, 2019 Author Share Posted January 1, 2019 OK to follow on in the vein of wall lining I have been doing a bit to this (And no I aint forgetting the Sea Beastie, that is in hand too) Here is ALL that is going to happen inside the Merlin My Tamiya tape layers will hide the oddball interior that results from the way Italeri made the front fuselage, no doubt, though I havent seen the HC1 so that the different window arrangements could be accommodated The transparencies must be used for all versions because they gave me more windows than the MH1 has but as many as the HC3 Which was useful because they don't give you as many windows as the MH1 has in service Prototype side walls need a smaller front side window by the crew door Like this So I added it from one of the left-over big ones and added a rubber seal that needs reducing like the others on the model And underneath working from some of the pictures (rare ones I kid you not) that allow light to flood under her I managed to work out where the various load items lower or drop Et viola I'm looking forwards to finishing inside so I can begin adding the stuff outside that needs attention, so many carbuncles seeking attention HRH the POW would be proud, I wonder if he has kept up his currency in RN helicoptership... perdu Posted January 3, 2019 Author Share Posted January 3, 2019 I have managed to do little bits of both grey choppers, here the CH-53 has had extra bits tacked on and the beginnings of seam tidying done] As can readily be seen, more to do here Looks OK though and should tidy up nicely Ceiling based wiggly wires made ready to add a little interest along with a set of straps to keep the crew nailed to their seats coming next so moving gently on. On the Merlin I have begun populating the cabin with the essential bits, bobs and doohdahs Italeri supplied a cabinet that sits behind the Search Display but it didnt look beefy enough so I have added some pieces cut from resin mould blocks to beef it up a bit The rear seating on the photos I have show a pair of seats at the rear, a triple just aft of the display console and a single seat facing aft next to the operator positions so they have been fitted in that configuration The hydraulic winch I made is in place for the dunking sonar (remind me not to say FLASH again in case I get reminded...) And the sonobuoy machine has been partly mocked up and tried for 'fit', looks OK to me Minor detail touch up is set to be tomorrow's job along with the rack for ready-use sonobuoys which isnt done (begun even) yet that will sit in front of the pair of seats inside the big door This blurry nightmare is of the inside seen from the door, tomorrow I will replace batteries in the camera and try for a better effort, sorry I have begun carbuncle modifying too, tomorrow you will see And as a bonus I have lots of Eduard (?) etch to bung on as I can clean them up all donated by Richard from a Merlin he made a while back which perished Since we have (OK we WILL have) the starboard door view I thought we should have a view through the little door too The pencilled in oval shows a ruddy great hole I need to hack which it seems allows the electronics to cool off I've a cover for this from Richard Ah well, nuff for now huh? IT is a complex and unfeasibly priced circle cutter Which said doesnt even begin to hide my envy If one is in (or considering being in) the detailing/scratchbuilding fraternity one oft-times finds a need to cut circles from film or plasticard or even brass in various diameters The readily available Expo circle cutter can cope with 10mm as the smallest size it will cut but this will go down almost to the size of a full stop I doubt if Tom or anyone else would use it on brass, I know I wouldn't I was being silly which shows how much I want one, getting mine this year at Telford Tom 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've got the Olfa circle cutter that pretty much serves all my needs. Mind you, I did buy their orange handled side cutters to sit alongside my Tamiya ones, that sit alongside my Xuron ones. Talk about 'all the gear, no idea' Jeff I'm talking about the circle cutter, not his bottom...
