corsaircorp
Glad that the missing parts are back in rotary wing city !! Bill, Seriously we both here known that SHE is right but honest... Who really care about ??? After all we have a reputation…. Great home made transcals, that way is making everyone glad ! The sonobuoy launcher look right to me, now the height of the device can be blurred from the angle of the photo… So, a bit too high or too low… When the fuselage will be buttoned up..; Who will know for sure ?? Great job Dear Colleague !! Congrats ! CC
perdu
That is a great addition to my Sea Stallion archive thanks Andy Looks like Betty doesn't it I'll enlarge it when I get onto my PC and consider whether to go in so deep Ditto the crew door Was only going to be a whizzoquicko double to enliven me, I want at least one finished by Sunday week
perdu
CC I have remade the launcher a third smaller, just looking for rodding that will fit as sonobuoys. Pictures later ok This picture is my reference shot, taken so I can rerivet the belly of the beast With my rivet wheel, no way do I plan sticking rivet transfers on here For that kind of duty I make way for the Naval Officer 😱 9
perdu
You know I said I must be mad... And went and bought the stepless cutter mk1 cheap-like... Well I had to go and look at the Silhouette Cutter again didnt I? Decided it was far too clever for me and didnt buy one Phew In deference to "The Gaffer" I am feebly trying to reorganise the workbench, it is NOT going well Nuff said 1

If you can use Inkscape Bill you'll have no trouble - the software is very similar. Worth keeping on your wishlist IMHO.

We had parked in their compound on a brief visit. They are huge machines and, as I shortly found during ground run they did, hugely noisy machines too. Mind you, I was more interested in the Gulf Air Emb-170 and Aero Logic B777 parked near us. Is that Betty Boop artwork? Jeff Betty looking back over her left shoulder and winking, left eye closed I can do that, I can 2
perdu
I can do Betty, I was told "She's easy" but I have rather more respect for the ladybabe than that For me she's fun and that's good enough But however a new problem looms Andy send us links to these machines with no refuelling boom but the 1/48 scale Flying Leathernecks sheets show them all with pointy bits sticking out of the front end... Airfix mould the front end with a choice of windows of course so now I must decide what, which, whether or why? Laters chaps whilst pondering begins...

perdu
On balance, no prod and non-handed Betty I can't see even fussy Marine ground crew having to mess with two faced Betty Boops So it's to be that one now, on with the other decals to draw and print, yippee Thanks for your assistance Andy, very welcome interventing mate
perdu
Look what I found I am recolouring her image to match the exhaust blank image now This image appears a few times on the search
perdu
I think this will do it The origamiinal and either or or I can return the red dress to black as in the web version up above Most Betty images show the girl in a red dress, OK some later spurious ones show her out of it too but I ain't not a going there brothers Anyway, what do you think? when I see the hi-res version of the exhaust covers I'm sure I see a red dress but I'll happily paint it black©

perdu
Yes I got that Andy this is the beginning of the process, the crop will give more Betty less other stuff Cant get too much of Betty I need a solid image to begin the cropping on first, this ought to do it I like to show how these develop for anyone who hasn't been used to cropping and recolouring image files and I am being as image basic as I can This is being done in MS Paint instead of Photoshop, just because
perdu
So here is the next stage in getting Betty into two exhaust blanks Circled in MS Paint, (using black for the separator line) This looked OK and was infilled with grey wherever I needed it and then whited out where I didnt After a little work I reached here Which is to be my base setting now, I just have to darken the gray a tad and it will be good enough for Government Work methinks

perdu
On the other build work continues apace/snail-like Whilst I have been seeking rod of a suitable diameter to make the new sonobuoys I have added some small pieces of colour inside, ready for when I close it up (soon) Small pieces of yellow transfer were put above the windows, on Merlin these have unfeasibly small letters to reproduce in 72th scale so I isnt gonna The winch has several small placards advising, informing or simply ordering this and that so I have bunged on a couple of stickers to represent such and the front and rear bulkheads and the back of the display monitor unit also have yellow or silver warning notices Herein displayed for you Work continues to make and fit the sonobuoys and the ready-use rack on which they sit awaiting loading/reloading More anon

perdu
Full on glueing in the garage day today, Sunday week looms and much to do Merlin's wheel sponsons are the unmodified, no countermeasures ones in the kit Much adding and greebling to do here (© Hendie) and painting inside the upper works which have been sorely ignored up to now The Sea Beastie has sprung a lower seam, attention needed there too and further additions to the externals too Then I have to knock out a few ECM greeblies for it too (in aviation parlance can a Sea Stallion be 'her' I wonder?) I sense messing about with old emulsion film negative may be involved for that ethereal gold-purple-sepia-metallic look on the sensor faces... We shall see Anyway hopefully a busy "Not Needed Elsewhere" day ensues
perdu
Well I am totally cream crackered from four hours standing by the roof of my MG Workbench doing some model making Enjoyable but hard work with this back injury the doc tells me is permanent so I'm going to call it an afternoon Stuck on some more of the structure and built the tail unit up, minus the tail rotor which will be left removable for transportation The Italeri instruction request Chromate finish inside the engine bay but from observing the opened panels in the BM walkarounds I did not see much of a harsh zincy look so I mixed up a reasonable approximation thereof Looks reasonable to me, a dribble of aircraft grey/green bs283 a splash of white and a further dribble of RAF Rescue Yellow bs356 Mix swiftly, bung in the Ultra and spray uncle Bob Not much point going further in and as I'm having process problems with my handling of the H&S I knocked it off there For fun I popped the tail on with tape and did a comparison Suddenly I have two big helicopters to find storage for I think I'll break out the S61N to add to these next Nose window moulding and interior for that one next

perdu
Rotor diameter might be up to an inch smaller, ditto the tail over the rotors Won't know' til I build the rotors for Merlin but she certainly is a very big lovely helicopter
