1/72 Sea Fury T20

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Been working on this on and off for a while, this is actually a very nice kit.  The Canopy was a bit of a so and so and did not want to conform so cut it into three sections to fit and the periscope legs are too short so used plastic rod.

Agree, lovely finish and don't they look good in silver?

Thanks guys for your kind comments.

Yes they do Neil. I have another silver Navy trainer on the workbench next. Although I will be having to pack everything away for a while when the building work starts on the house again.

All the best

Lovely job! I might have to buy the single-seater version.

Lovely build Chris - not only does the silver look good but so too the "Hawker yellow" in the wheel wells - in the recent Airfix 1:48 kit I think they recommend a colour that is too close to zinc chromate and not sandy enough, if that makes sense...

A really lovely result there.

Nick.

Thanks Nick I was worried it might be too bright, so thanks for reassuring me.

I like that, my favourite scheme for one of these, seeing it given flesh like this is real cool, especially so nicely done. :)

Steve.

Thanks Steve, it's a nice kit even for a short run kit. It went together well.

You did her proud, mate :)

Martin

Thanks Martin. I am very pleased with the model and it will look good next to the Oxford in the same scheme. Especially when I build the next Navy trainer again in the same scheme.

Something oddly satisfying about that model. Take it out of the obvious workshop setting, place it in a more natural scene and it would look brilliant.

Thanks Noel, I will have to try that I will see what it comes out like and post one on the thread.

Hello BigBadge,

Very interesting subject. Never seen before.

Well executed. regards, Dirk

Thanks Dirk.  The Sea Fury is a lovely looking machine and with the extra cockpit it looks unusual but still very pleasing to the eye.

All the best
