peely20
Hi I have an idea for a diorama that would require a couple of TIE Fighters in 1/350 scale, but I am drawing a blank on where to source them from, if they even exist! I have tried browsing through Shapeways but that is a very tedious task and the search engine is not much use if people don’t call things by the right name. So if anyone has any idea of where to get the blighters from then that info would be most welcome. Cheers NeilR
Pilgrim_UK
At that kind of scale it would be easier building them from plasticard. Even the F-toys ones are 1/144. If you can get hold of the 1/350 falcon you would see how tiny they would be.
peely20
Hi Pilgrim I have the 1/350 Falcon and it certainly is small, then I had a crazy notion to build an asteroid diorama based on a scene from TESB and that’s when I started looking for 1/350 TIEs.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Hi @peely20 ... Shapeways 3D printing ? The link is for 1/270th but shouldnt be to hard to resize them ? https://www.shapeways.com/product/VE3VPXUEQ/heavy-tie-fighter-quot-tie-brute-quot-1-270?optionId=66026982&li=marketplace I hope that helps your diorama along. Niall
The X wing miniatures game models are also at 1/270th scale. The game cards which you would not need would be sellable for people who play the game.
TheVoidDragon
It's still quite a bit off, but supposedly the Micro Machines TIE fighter is 1/294 scale. http://www.rebelscale.com/scale-lists/galoob-micro-machines/
monsterpartyhat
There's a thread on the RPF detailing building a 1:350 TIE Interceptor, using an electronic die cutter machine for the wings. I recently got one of those machines and I'm planning to try my hand at TIE wings of various sorts using them during the new year. https://www.therpf.com/forums/threads/tie-interceptor-1-350-scratch.293854/ for the RPF thread. peely20
Thanks for the comments, plenty of food for thought there. I am considering scratchbuilding, just working out the best approach.
