Timed it just right, left the UK 1' (snow later that day), arrived Tenerife 24' .

Much appreciated, Kev.  A week ago here, it was -22°C with a -35°C wind chill.  I'm green (no, not Martian green) with envy. :who-let-rip:

This pic clearly shows the laser cut line on the false bulkhead. I must say  this laser cutting is spot on. A few passes with a file in the bulkhead / keel notches and they slotted firmly together. Note  the charred wood needs to be cleaned off to allow for good adhesion. I'm using PVA and Ca on this build

Watching with intrest as i have this in my stash

 

The kit method for bending and twisting the planks is not the best.  Its a very slow method that has a tendancy to open up the woodgrain.  Its far quicker to hold the plank over the steam of a kettle, you can form a curve or a twist in seconds and the wood is good to hold adhesive stright away

I wasn't happy with the width of the capping rail .............. managed to reduce it by about 25%, much better 🙂 

 

Work started on the bottom boards. Done in usual way. Cardboard template, traced onto paper. Support boards tacked to paper. Main boards fixed with 1mm spacer in between. Paper removed from back

We have a friend who moved from here to Santa Cruz de Tenerife a few years ago.  For some reason, she says she doesn't miss our snow & sub-zero temperatures. :winkgrin:

The kit calls for the bottom boards to follow the ribs as per museum drawings. There in lies a problem, the distance between the thwarts and the bottom boards  is over 500mm. I'm 1900mm tall my lower leg 450mm so even I would have my legs swinging in the breeze. I have rowed 32 foot RN Cutters and believe me if you can't brace your feet you're going no where. Hence the reason I have changed to duck boards to reduce the height difference. 

I have seen it mentioned on other forums if the original came from a museum it must be right :fraidnot:
