Looking great and I would say why not for a natural finish bit of weathering and some stained planks

gives you a used look

I'm with that Good looking boy too.

That will come up right nice!  You are being too modest.

And It looks great and I have definitely put something like this down on the "to-do" list (Damn you Capt. Longhanks!!)

Not a brilliant finish, definitely not good enough for a natural finish but paint will cover my sins.

I think you are selling yourself a bit short there and I would tend to agree with Beefy.

These are great little subjects to model. And great for practice for wooden hull construction. I scratchbuilt a 54foot version years ago but with clinker hull, and complete with a cannon and caronade onboard.

Great lookin' work Kev!  I'm a little confused tho, this looks like a KIT! I don't recall ever having seen you build a "kit", it's always scratchin' for you.  Nice work on the bending.

A kit was chosen due to the fact that all my modelling supplies had to go to Spain and return in a box measuring 330 x 210 x75mm (13 x 8.25 x 3")

Took me 10 times as longer to pack this than my clothes lol.

Good to see you're moving forward again. Happy New Year to you and the family

Seriously, interesting subject, great to see something a bit different to all those blasted torps and big guns

Certainly different and been fun so far 🙂

Thanks for all the support but I've got a block booking for you all at Specsavers 😉

The planking has been finished and I felt I was looking for trouble trying to smooth it out. The problem being the strakes are only 0.6mm thick !!

So a bit of filler and paint and it's now looking fairly presentable . . . .

I've removed the centre/strength bulkheads and it now needs fettling inside

I shall be putting this aside now until the next holiday. . . .

Thanks for your support so far

Who needs clothes? Try modelling "au naturelle "as I sometimes do. It would leave more room in your luggage for modelling gear.

PS: From this you will have gathered that the model meets with my extra-terrestrial approval. Well done that Earthling!

One would take this as indicating alien pleasure. We aim to please our interstellar colleagues 👽 :nodding:

You wont have long to wait, see above. Must do a bit on the Fairmile D

Fortunately we are cat people. However, this particular alien was woken up in a very similar fashion recently by one of my friend's dogs :yikes: when we were staying at his house; shortly followed by the rest of the house being woken by Martian expletives being directed at said animal!

As promised work continues . . .

Inside cleaned up and capping rail fitted

Would have prefered to have done the cap in three pieces, better grain flow but I don't have the facilities here. How successful it would have been butt joining 0.5mm thick wood remains to be seen.

Thanks for looking in

Great job I take it with this back on the cards you have headed to sunnier climes now and I would not blame you for that must be so relaxing being able to sit in the sunshine and just model not jealous at all.  :coolio:
