Grey Beema
"Quite compelling as to the co-existence of light and dark codes on Emperor during TUNGSTEN. Though not quite as simple as you suggest: there's a different photo of the first two aircraft of the righthand range on p.63 of Osprey's Royal Navy Aces of World War 2: the first aircraft is JV105 EW of 800 Sq (red, outlined white, codes), the second is EF and looks as if it has the lighter codes." I'm glad you bought up that picture - the second aircraft (if it's the photo I think) the second aircraft is E°F JV132 to which are attributed a number of victories (Inc. FW190) flown by Lt B Ritchie 800 NAS... (I'm resisting posting a photo of my interpretation of this aircraft.)
Troy Smith
9 hours ago, Teammuir1 said: If I understood how to input just a picture on here I would..... but I still yet have figured out how you put that pic up..... lol if on google image search, click image, then right click, "open image in a new tab", then right click, "copy image URL", then paste that here. don't use images with watermark or copyright slapped on them, but most old pics are OK. if in doubt look up "fair use" as this is not commercial and is for discussion/education use

Teammuir1
So.. again that is alot of information.. I had to go back and re read this twice.. lol I posted some pics.. yeah thanks to Troy Smith.... ( its his fault ) .. this is the plane with the markings I am now leading towards copying .... Please decode this plane for me... and I sure hope its correct .... if so then I will proceed with ordering my decal set from the place that make military graphics for my hobby... I plan on installing all the markings I can so again.. any help there.. would be great.. after I install the markings I will Dirty the plane up.. with all the wear markings.. I will air brush all the dirt and the exhaust streaks.. any and all dirt and wear on the panel lines... mostly under the plane but some will be on the top I plan on making it very realistic before using a Satin Finish clear to protect all the work I will be doing.... I am ok with the read ring on the nose provided it was on the planes with the D-day stripes... Thanks again for all the great information.. I cant wait to read more.. I am so glad I signed up on this forum ..
Teammuir1
Would this be an accurate uniform for a british pilot ?
Graham Boak
Yes, somewhere warm. I suspect the Med in August would count as warm. However a sensible pilot wouldn't fly with bare skin showing - not only because temperatures fall with altitude but also in case of fire.
Teammuir1
Keep in mind I am looking for some detail as to how the pilot would look in the cockpit... I have a pilot I am working on right now.. he is originally a US pilot... but I am wanting to make him look british.. If it were possible to show a pic from my own computer I would. I dont think the pilots wore any type of ranking lapels... or other ranking insignias if I am wrong please correct me.
