Special Hobby Tempest V plus aftermarket

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

It's been a long time I posted in RFI, but here for your delectation is Special Hobby's tremendous Tempest V, the original HiTech boxing augmented with their resin Napier Sabre, which truly deserves the accolade 'a model in itself'.  I think it might actually have more pieces than the airframe.  WIP is here; and without further ado, the pictures.

Next year's project is also 1/32, features several Merlin engines and is over a metre wide.  Hurry up, postie!

Wow, loving the detail!

Can't wait for your Lanc! 😁

Likewise... Hk models (and Pocketbond) are entirely too tight-lipped about shipping dates for my liking. Only 2 weeks til Christmas...!

Great looking Tempest there Mike, nice work on the engine and guns too

Amazing kit, apparently, and a very proper, clean model!

If anything, for my taste, it's a bit too squeaky clean. Some subtle, tasteful weathering, and darker wash enhancement of and around working parts and hatches wouldn't come amiss, IMHO.

Kind regards,

Joachim

Very nice indeed. The engine, cockpit & guns look great but, as Spitfire31 says, a little subtle  weathering would improve if even more.

It's grubbier than you think... It was brightly lit when I took the pictures, but also I'm not a fan of panel washes because IMHO (and it's *my* opinion so 😝! ) I think they can look too die-cast like if overdone; I err on the side of caution!

PS: Thanks for the compliments!

What an impressive beast you've done! That engine is fantastic and all extra detailing here and there really makes it extra special.

Terrific job!

Thanks Christer. I have to ask, are you anything to do with the Swedish Tempest website? And either way, how come Swedes appear to like Tempests so much? ☺️
