PlaStix
This was my build for the Gumman GB and I used Airfix's relatively new tool 1/72 kit. It was a nice kit to build and I made it as the aircraft of Capt. Marion E. Carl, VMF-223, United States Marine Corps, Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, September 1942. I had originally thought of doing the model with it's wings folded but decided I'd prefer to display it in flight over water. I haven't modelled water before and I have an idea for a project next year which may include scenic water - so I took the opportunity to try out some ideas. I think it worked okay. I didn't have time to motorise this aircraft like I have done with some others so instead I used PE PropBlurs. Kit: 1/72 Airfix - A02070 Extras: PropBlurs Paints: Revell and Humbrol Acrylics all applied by brush Base: MDF and filler. Clear perspex rod. The WIP can be found here. Now some photos which include the base: Thank you to everyone who commented and offered support or advice in my build thread and thank you to @TEMPESTMK5 for hosting the GB. Kind regards, Stix Edited December 9, 2018 by PlaStix 61

Ciao Hi Giorgio and thank you very much for your very kind words as always. I had planned on doing a lot more heavy weathering - there's lots of really well weathered Wildcat models out there but, when I found photos of this aircraft, it didn't look to be that badly worn - so I stopped where I'd got to. Thank you again. Kind regards, Stix
GrzeM
Very cool! Only the propeller blades have some flash 😉
General Jumbo
Lovely job on that one and love the base also - really looks great! I'm going to be contiversial though... I really don't like the prop blur! It looks like a cartoon drawing in my humble opinion. I guess this is one where beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I enjoy taking photos almost as much as I enjoy model making. Part of the problem was that I took some on one day and was really pleased with them and then on a second day there seemed to be more interesting light - so I took a load more. Then I couldn't decide which I prefered..........believe me this is an edited set!! Kind regard, Stix
