PlaStix
Right - to get us started - some possible Panzer IV links. First up - as a general overview of Panzer IVs you could look at Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_IV I'm always a bit wary about the total accuracy of Wikipedia but, if you find something of interest, you can always cross reference the information on other sites or ask your fellow modellers on here. Wikipedia have a list of variants here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Panzer_IV_variants Same proviso as above. I quite like the Tank Encyclopaedia and links are available to the variants lower down the page: http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/nazi_germany/Panzer_IV.php Another site that includes information about Pz.IVs is Panzer IV The Workhorse: http://panzerivtheworkhorse.blogspot.com/ Please post below any links you think might be useful to others building Panzer IVs or it's variants. Foxbat
I found this page has a few good shots of StuG IVs, useful for the two of us already committed to building them, and for anyone else with a hankering. https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/germany/tanks-2-3/stug-iv/ Andy

AgentG
References I will be using for an up armored Pz IV E. This is what I want to replicate, a Pz IV E from Panzer Regiment 8. G
Mitch K
My general go-to reference is "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War 2" by Doyle and Chamberlain. The specific vehicle I'm going to do is pictured (photo not a profile!) on page 63 of Bruce Culver's "Panzer Colours 2". Another great volume with plenty of pictures of Panzer IV is Jean-Paul Pallud's "Panzers in Normandy Then and Now".
Mig Eater
I've been helping a few people in several threads with information regarding the various tracks used on the Panzer IV. I thought I'd write a brief summary here so it's easier & more centralized for anyone else with questions. Here is a diagram showing most of the tracks used on the Panzer IV along with the versions they were used on & when, I'll go into more depth below. Type 2 SK-26 36cm (1938-1941) The first type of track used on early versions of the Panzer IV, which was originally designed for the Panzer III. Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. A Panzer IV Ausf. B Panzer IV Ausf. C Panzer IV Ausf. D Panzer IV Ausf. E Dicker Max Brückenleger IV Type 3 SK-24 40cm (1940-1941) New wider version introduced in 1940. Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. F Panzer IV Ausf. G Panzer IV Ausf. H Type 4A SK-18 40cm (1941-1944) Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. F Panzer IV Ausf. G Panzer IV Ausf. H Hummel Nashorn Type 4B SK-23 40cm (1942-1945) This revision removed the hole in the guide horn. Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. G Panzer IV Ausf. H Panzer IV Ausf. J Brummbär Hummel Nashorn Pz.Sfl.IVb Type 5A SK-17 40cm (1943-1945) The is version added V shaped cleats to the tracks to help with traction on ice & mud. Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. G Panzer IV Ausf. H Panzer IV Ausf. J Jagdpanzer IV Stug IV Brummbär Hummel Nashorn Ostwind Wirbelwind Bergepanzer IV Type 5B SK-22 40cm (1944-1945) Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. J Jagdpanzer IV Wirbelwind Kugelblitz Type 7 SK-27 40cm (1944-1945) No Friul version available Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. J Jagdpanzer IV Wirbelwind Kugelblitz Winterketten 56cm (1942-1944) After suffering though the harsh Russian winter in 1941 with tanks getting stuck the in the mud & snow the Germans developed a new set of tracks with extensions cast onto the ends to decrease the ground pressure. The extensions proved to be quite fragile & would often break off (if you plan to use these I'd suggest snapping the ends of a few 😛). Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. G Panzer IV Ausf. H Panzer IV Ausf. J Stug IV Jagdpanzer IV Hummel Nashorn Ostketten 56cm (1944-1945) An updated & reinforced version of the Winterketten tracks used in the last year of the of the war. Used on: Panzer IV Ausf. G Panzer IV Ausf. H Panzer IV Ausf. J Stug IV Jagdpanzer IV Hummel Nashorn The information I have posted here is just what I personally know off the top of my head & could quickly find so should only be used as a guide, I suggest doing further research if you are making a specific vehicle. I'll update this post in the future as I fine more information. Edited December 16, 2018 by Mig Eater 3
