Wafu
These are great photos of XQ (847 NAS, 1982) ex 772 NAS, 622. The most note worthy point in these photos is the Joint Services decal on the Starboard electrical door. This marking is mis-represented by Italeri in their 1/48 Falklands kit, noteworthy also is the 772 crest, somewhat faded on the Starboard transmission door. I’d love to have a detailed picture of that crest, anyone help me with that? Thanks for posting the pictures Philip.

huvut76g7gbbui7
Reference my earlier question about a green Wessex with 'Rescue' on it. My brain wasn't wrong after all! Now was it only on the door or on both sides?
huvut76g7gbbui7
Back to colour variations. In this photo The lead Wessex appears to have no yellow blade 2 Wessex appear to have 2 yellow blades The SAR one and the furthest away one has 1 yellow blade. huvut76g7gbbui7
Interesting shot of an 845 cab in Norway in 1976. Presume the red X on the door was because they were acting as 'Red Force' Tight fit!

I remember this picture, 772 NAS taking delivery of its 5 new Sea King Mk4’s, with an escort from Yeov’s by 771 and the outgoing Wessex of 772. I have a copy of this MOD photo somewhere..

Wafu
Its amazing what you find whilst bored at work, yesterday I found the Crest that was on 622 Starboard Electrical panel in 1981 after JMC exercise in Northern Scotland. 622 later, like all but a few of 772 NAS cabs, went to help form 847 NAS for the Falklands War. The aircraft became famous for being part of the helicopter rescue of Welsh Guards in Bluff Cove on the 8th of June 1982. Thanks to Scimitar the aircraft has been shown in this thread as being at HMS Sultan, now the home of Naval Aviation Engineering training. Here is Scimitars pic blown up to show the Crest location (wrongly depicted in the Italeri 1/48th Kit of the Wessex V, XQ, XT480) I'd like to do a decal sheet for 847, 845, 846, 707, 772 and the other Ship/flight crests, its just finding the right person to print the sheets in 1/48 and 1/32.

bootneck
I don't know if this is of any interest but our Wessex 60 finally emerged from long-term (8-10 year) refurb today. She is G-AVNE (ex VH-BHC Bristows Australia) She was rolled out from the work area this morning, into a temporary location for final tidy up of the nose area. She will remain here for a few weeks and then will get relocated into the main display hangar. Mike

There was a fatal accident (https://www.caa.govt.nz/Accidents_and_Incidents/Accident_Reports/ZK-HVK_Fatal_12Feb2001.pdf) way back and then the carry on with the ex-RAF batch. T The CAA in NZ grounded them in 2017. Lots of reading if you Google heli-logging New Zealand.

Here's Sikorsky HSS-1 ,141602 as she was delivered to the UK in March 1956. She is marked here in class B registration,G-17-1 and became XL722. She was scrapped in 1968 after use as an instructional airframe. The engine/airframe configuration underwent many changes. Here are a few. Looking at the top pic and at the Gallery H34 sitting in my stash I fear some deviltry may be afoot.
