WV908
Hi all, more RAFM Luftwaffe questions. I’m looking at slowly building up the RAFM’s Luftwaffe collection in 1/48 and have previously asked about the ME-410 and chose the Revell / promodeller kit. For Black 6 I’ve bought the eduard G.2 trop plus aftermarket decals. For the ME262 i’ll be using the Hobbyboss A-2a. For starters, can anyone tell tell me which ICM kit has the right parts to produce the JU-88 R.1 currently at Cosford? In the longer term i’ll also be picking up an ME163 and an FW.190, so I need an A.8 with the mistel attachment points. Can anyone advise on the best 1/48 kits for these? Also have I forgotten anything? Cheers, WV908
Sturmovik
Try looking for the Dragon/Revell 1:48 Ta 154 Mistel aircraft, it has the Fw 190A-8 with the Mistel attachment points.

Hi Sturmovik, thanks - can you build a normal Ta 154 from it? It looks like it from the parts (canopy is certainly there) but the instructions are less than helpful. Sturmovik
I think the kit doesn't have the clear parts for the 154, the part's diagram on 1999.co.jp/eng doesn't show them.

This is what i’m going from - looks like the clear parts and cockpit tub are there at least; https://www.super-hobby.com/products/TA-154-Mistel-Focke-Wulf-Fw-190.html The instructions are well.... Let me know what you think, because i’m confused by it unfortunately Also as daft as it sounds I can’t see the attachment points either Cheers, WV908 Edited December 4, 2018 by WV908 More info
3DStewart
Remember that Cosford's collection is dynamic and changes with time as stuff is swapped with Hendon. What point in time do you plan on modelling? BTW, the Me 410's propeller tips aren't prototypical.

Me163, AFAIK the only 1/48 kits are the old Hawk/Testors kits, which I think got reboxed by Italeri. the only modern option is the Dragon kit, this did get reboxed by Revell, which would most likely have better decals. https://www.scalemates.com/products/reviews.php?scale=1%3A48&topic=Messerschmitt+Me+163+Komet The fw 190A-8, I'd be looking for the right overall parts, and scratch build the Mistel attchments, (I'm assuming they are just some plates for the cradle to attach too?) as the Dragon kit is noted to be fiddly to assemble. EDIT Mistel Note just a few mount points. A separate thread maybe a better idea. I have a Dragon A-8 from a Mistel kit, somewhere, I'll see if it has anything specific. Hasegawa do a decent A-8, probably the best bet would be the new tool Eduard, (the older one is noted to be a pain to build closed up) I'm not sure if they have done an A-8 boxing as yet, Eduard do specific mouldings for the wings, so you want to get the right hatches. The Eduard site is good for showing this. 5 hours ago, WV908 said: which ICM kit has the right parts to produce the JU-88 R.1 currently at Cosford? The ICM kit is supposee to have some issues, the Dragon kit is noted for being tricky fit wise, but came in multiple variants. Right, the R , according to Wiki, has BMW 801 engines, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junkers_Ju_88#Heavy_fighter_and_night_fighter Quote The Ju 88R series night fighters were basically versions of the Ju 88 C-6, powered by unitized BMW 801 radial engines. as AIMS do a conversion set, http://www.aimsmodels.co.uk/1-48/Updates_and_Conversions/updates_and_conversions.html and a quick look here http://www.aimsmodels.co.uk/Ju_88_kits/ju_88_kits.html does not show either Dragon or iCM doing a BMW 801 version, you may need to get a C-6 kit and convert it with the resin engines. ICM I don't think do a fighter, so you need a Dragon or Revell. EDIT ICM do a C-6 further research has shown... note from the AIMS site Dragon Quote Dragon kits have great detail in all areas apart form the fuel cells in spine and the situation with the cockpit floor due to the cockpit halfs being used for multiple variants. Spinners are incorrect shape - See Quickboost - and undercarriage starts too far back from engine firewall. ICM Quote Looks lovely but there are some glaring issues that if corrected should make a lovely kit. Should give you some pointers I hope cheers T Edited December 4, 2018 by Troy Smith additional info

Hi Stewart, i’m modelling the collection at Cosford as it is now, so Black 6, the ex-Mistel 190, the Ju-88 R1, the 410, the 262 and the 163. I’m tempted to do the dornier too, but that takes up just as much room as the 88, so i’d rather not do it. Cheers, WV908

I got to crawl over the 190 and 109 in February, so I have good detail shots of the three mounts and got covered in oil in the process (from a machine which last ran over 70 years ago...) They weren’t quite as keen to let me scramble around the 262 and obviously the 88 and 410 being larger, higher up aircraft are a different kettle of fish, but I pretty much got every angle of the 109 and most of the 190 Cheers, WV908

I was wondering if you still had that 1/48 Revell JU-88C to swap for those 1/72 HobbyBoss kits I had for sale? Cheers, WV908
