Goofy Alarm !!

Goofy alarm !!

Don't do what I've done, unless you'll feel the same pain in the rear quarter.....

And NO @Dunny, I've never been in a Turkish jail....:rofl2:

I tried to let the jet pipe aside and put it after....

Since it would have been a masking nightmare....

IMG_20220704_235854

But Dam.... Put it after is also a nightmare...

And I still have 3 to do....:rage:

See you Wednesday, tomorrow, theatre with Mrs CC

Sincerely.

You do make a good point Johnny it is looking very good. I just put "sad" because it's still painful to see incidents like this interrupting progress when the model is getting closer and closer to finished.

It is looking very nice though CC.

Enjoy the theatre!

But I've done the same thing...   For the same reason...  So is it "Great minds think alike" or "Fools seldom differ"...  TBH I don't think there is another way...

Sorry to hear about your jet-pipe difficulties CC - I believe you can get a cream for that 🤣

Cheers,

And it's exactly the same on the 1/72 Airfix GR3...

Put it in before and it's a masking nightmare, put it in after and it scratches the nozzles:shrug:

G'day people,

I actually added my jet nozzles after painting as well, BUT, I omitted the linkage system as I was not going to play with the nozzles once they were installed. I found the fit  little tight but it was not too hard to install, so unless you want to play with the nozzles (a very good way to break off other parts of your kit).I would suggest leaving out the linkage system.

When dry fitting the nozzles to their inner swivelmech connectors they were already a very tight fit. I alsoI tried usiing the swivel mech without the nozzles installed before I started painting and it worked okay, sometimes one of the nozzles would drag a little and need a some re-adjustment to match, so I comncluded that installing the swivel mech was not worth the effort IMHO

cheers,

Pappy

I would have left out the nozzles until after painting also. Must try to remember when I get around to my GR 3.

Let's say Great minds look alike....:rofl2::rofl2:

It's at least self reassuring....

Good one Roger !!

But, in this precise case, the cream is more looking like a shovel full of sand..... :rofl2:

I did sand the nozzles a bit, but the less is the better, and I did it where it will no longer can be seen once the nozzle is glued....

Thanks Pappy !!

It sound like a cunning plan...

I never wanted to see the nozzles moving, I glued even the props....

And the wheels too....

Guess how I learned it....

Well, decalling is almost done...

Hello Dears,

Let's have a modelling evening at least....

So yesterday was the day....

Thinking about @Pappy's idea, I tried to thin the inside of the nozzles...

IMG_20220710_230105

And it has worked fine, no need to file the external part...

Here we are, still one nozzle to be installed but it has seemingly worked fine !!

IMG_20220711_004421

I let a bit of the locating pin inside the nozzle and the angle look about right....

More to come soon.... Tuesday.... Alas....

Happy modelling week to you all !!

Sincerely.

Not necessarily so Dave. Maybe the early ones but some (all?) of the later ones were left unpainted.

Great work Alain.  I too had to fit the nozzles using skill and dexterity (but mostly brute force)...

I am done.  Mine is complete and in the cabinet sitting next to a Seafire (Harrier looks huge)...

Well Done Man,

Feel free to share a pic on here !!

Brute force.... Let's say that I've been persuasive....

In other words... The rules of engagement have been largely overlooked at CC castle too.....:whistle:

Decisions decisions....

I finally elected to paint the cold nozzles with an heavy weathering...

Could be a win win deal....

There was paint M'Lurd but.....

  • 3 weeks later...

It looks real good and it will be even better after weathering I bet.

No jump jet in my stash! Shame on me. You make me want to repair this mistake (Airfix 1/72 probably)

Always a tricky call CC. I've pondered over the decision myself and there's no right or wrong unless it's clear in a photo.

All looking very good!
