spaddad
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of aftermarket available for the XVI, is this because the various sets for the IX will do for the XVI?
NPL
could it be that it does not really need very much? Just went through Hannants' home page. There is quite a lot for the Mk.IX, but mostly small bits and pieces. Edited December 4, 2018 by NPL 1
11bravo
Funny, I was just thinking about possibly building this kit. Didn't see many aftermarket decals for it. I think pretty much any resin / PE set for the Mk. IXc will work for this kit.

I do think that Kagaro in the series of Spifires (Topcolors) including the Mk XVI has a number of possibilities. Probably from Polish squadrons Mokwa, Stanisław Krzysztof, Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX/XVI and other (Topdrawings, 11; Lublin: Kagero, 2011). Światłoń, Janusz, Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIe (Topcolors, 24; Lublin: Kagero, 2011). It's is definitely not in print anymore, but ... ebay? jenko
Having done one all that is really needed are the following if you are not super detailing it. New door ………. Barracuda New rocker covers with the Rolls Royce name on them ……….. Barracuda New tyres for main wheels...…..Barracuda That's it...…. the kit is that good. 😊 I had the same difficulty with decals and used what was in the box...… could have been better. 11bravo
For some reason, I was really drawn towards a single-color post-war scheme. Just for a break from the regular grey/green. Surprised there aren't more decals out for this kit.
gingerbob
Lifelike Decals has several sheets with XVIs on them. I second Barracuda as the first stop for a little extra jewelry for your Tamiya Spitfire. There are some changes for a low-back cockpit, but in general IX details will be good for the XVI.
NPL
If you go to lifelike's home page, you will see that only one sheet er still there, although in limited supply. I guess why it has been so popular.
FG2Si
Here's the one I finished last year. I used the Lifelike decals for some of the markings while others were custom paint masks. In addition to the Barracuda details others have mentioned, I used fabric belts from either Wako or HGW, Master brass barrels and PE rad screens from RB. Work In Progress
Why would you want these - "New rocker covers with the Rolls Royce name on them ……….. Barracuda" - for a Spitfire XVI, which by definition had a Packard engine?

Whitewolf
As for aftermarket, I purchased the Barracuda sets including the door, plus the Yahu late Mk IX/XVI instrument panel, SAC metal undercarriage, Eduard set, New wheels, Master Brass Gun Barrels and etched sets for the radiators. I used their VIII kit as a starting point as it is more suitable. 1 hour ago, Stealthman said: I suspect it is. I was hoping that Barracuda would have come out with a conversion but they didn't so I did the best I could scratch building it. Here's a couple pics from the build which I did concurrent with the XVI. With the XVI and an VIII on my bench. The one bit that wasn't covered in the book was the deeper rear canopy section and the hardest part of the build. Carl

I did post the rest of the build over there. I think it got might have been moved out of the GB section as I didn't finish it in time.
