SweAF A32A Lansen - Tarangus 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hi

The ejection seats are done.

The glass "ears" have been glued with Gator Glue, I hope they'll stay in place.
I'll wait to glue them to the cockpit until I'm done with the air brakes and ordnance.

And speaking of air brakes.
The first PE part was bent, folded and glued yesterday.

Hi,

Just a quick update.
I'm done with the PE origami and the air brakes. :yahoo:

The sharp eyed can see that I've left out some smaller bits on the side of the lower air brakes.
Those parts are too small for me to see, and handle, and they'll be on the back side of the air brakes which will not be seen when I've put my Lansen in the display cabinet.

Thanks Ray.  :D

PE isn't that much different from plastic, so try it out.

You could just start with the easy bits like an instrument panel and then work up your skills from there.

I've still have some more PE for this Lansen to work with before it's finished and I could perhaps take some more progress pictures of that work in a more step by step manner if that would be of any help.

I see what you mean Ray.

A nice pair of small flat nosed pliers will take care of  most of the bending part.

I bought a set that was catered to people doing their own jewellery, and they are the one I use the most.

Or, if you invest some of your hard earned AUD$, an etchmate folding tool.

I invested in a Etch Mate 3C from Mission Models over a decade ago and I think it's great, and it's going to last my lifetime so it's a one-time purchase.   :D

If you plan to do PE for large AFV's or ships this will be (almost) a necessity

As for gluing the part I find that a gel PE and a tooth pick is the best approach.

For smaller parts where there is not loadbearing stress on the parts Gator Glue works fine.

Hi Robert.
The pitot tube is brass from Maestro.
But I think it's manufactured by Master and only branded by Maestro.

I did some more small things on my Lansen yesterday.
The pylons for the Rb04's is in place.
I broke one of the bracings when I cut it free from the pour blocks.
But it was easy to glue it in place after the pylon was glued to the wing.

Nose gear covers and a fin has found it's place.

I've also got one of the Rb04's on the pylon.

I'll get the second one in place as soon as I've finished painting the broken piece on the pylon.

My plan for this weekend is to actually finish this build.
I've got the FOD guards to do, rolling and folding coloured PE should be exiting enough for a friday evening.

And the FOD guards.

And with that I could finish the rest.
I didn't use the PE boarding ladder due to it's complexity.
Perhaps I'll add it later, or use it on the next Lansen.

And now it resides in the display cabinet.

That's all for this build.
It's been a bit complicated, mostly due to all PE that I've used.
But I'll will build at least one more.

Thanks for watching.
