1/72 Kyushu Q1W1 Tokai "Lorna"

Hello all,

 

Even though I won’t finish by the GB deadline, I thought I would add some progress shots.

 

Reinforced tail wheel with metal:

 

 

Enclosed the props in the spinners with styrene card and filler. The metal rod (cut up paper clip) will be used to insert spinner and props into a drilled whole in the engines:

 

 

I added styrene card for the fuselage and some ribbing and stringers:

 

 

 

I’ve spent a bit of time scratch-building pieces for the cockpit:

 

 

Including radio, transmitter and the magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) system used to detect submarines:

Many thanks to the hosts @Romeo Alpha Yankee and @Robert Stuart for organizing and running this GB – a great job. Thanks also to those that offered advice and encouragement. Sorry I didn’t make better progress with the Lorna…

 

There were some fantastic builds in this GB – congrats to all!

 

If the hosts/moderators ( @Enzo Matrix ??) don’t mind, can this thread be duplicated over to WIP?

Thank-you for taking part @Dazey, this was an unusual (to me) type, and I enjoyed watching your build.

 

Even though it wasn't completed here, I hope you can continue in the WIP area.
