Learstang
AFT! About time! One I've been hoping for a new-mould kit for a looooong time. Regards, Jason Edited April 11, 2019 by Learstang Slight change.
Max Headroom
A quirky type that’s long overdue for the 21st century treatment. Buried ‘deep’ in store I have the original KP offering. I’m holding out for this F-6 variant https://goo.gl/images/vjYVVu I’ve wanted to do this scheme ever since I saw a photo in Scale Aircraft Modelling of the real thing with a heavily chipped and flaked paint. Wonderfully ‘used’ it was! Trevor
Vultures1
Well, the box art is nice at least ... Look, I'm determined to be positive about this release until proved otherwise!!

GreenDragon
Years ago I did a review of the Bielek kit for Scale Aviation Modeller and some of those KP parts are looking VERY familar. Hope it turns out better that that ALCA. Paul Harrison

KRK4m
So the variant with brake chute will also be included! It opens the niche for plenty of 3rd World Airforces that used late series F-6s. Russian MiG-19S/early J-6 kit (old KP, Mastercraft and Bilek) needed some fin surgery to achieve such results... Cheers Michael

After my initial excitement wore off, I noticed how crude and rushed it looked [emphasis mine] and how many key features had been left to the aftermarket and scratchbuilders to tend to. Not long after came the announcement that Eduard would be puting out their own 1/72 Z-37 kit. Crude and rushed - yes, but isn't that how the Smelak looks in real life? sroubos
Not familiar with the type but that's actually quite a sexy-looking aircraft. I'll get one.

Wez
The MiG-19S looks sleek and arrow like until you see that gaping maw of an intake and then notice things like those massive wing fences, I personally think it looks quite brutal! I'll wait and see before I commit to this kit.
Marcel Drgon
Petr Muzikant sold the first three boxing options on Plastikova Zima in Bratislava today and I must admit it's a winner. I detached the main parts from the sprues already and they fit pretty well. Cmeliak was crude, but this one is on par or above with his Bf-109s. Old Kovozavody's one was my first ever kit finished with paint like 40 years ago, so this one brings out sweet memories.

Old Kovozavody's one was my first ever kit finished with paint like 40 years ago, so this one brings out sweet memories. I have also built the old KP one some 45 years ago and since then have been waiting for the decent Farmer. Neither Heller, nor Bilek, nor Mastercraft could be considered as such. Regrettably looking at the 30+ tiny air scoops to be glued (no pins!) all over the fuselage of this KP new tool I'm very far from calling it "a winner" too. Mind that Trumpeter managed to mould the same scoops integrally with fuselage of their 1/72 Q-5 Fantan some years ago... Pity 😪 Cheers Michael

Very interesting, thanks for posting ! I can see some good things and some that could have been better in terms of detail. In any case, this seems to be the best option for a MiG-19 in this scale, at least if the accuracy of the lines will be confirmed. Thinking about it, it will probably still be the best 19 in scale even if accuracy is not the best, such is the scarcity of kits of this aircraft on the market. The only price I've found for the kit is € 13.50 from a Czech shop, IMHO pretty good. I can see at least one of these joining my stash soon

Dennis_C
Yeah. Seems to be a great year for MiG fans with forthcoming 17 from Airfix and this pretty decent 19 (surprisingly well done compared to other latest releases by AZ). Plus we had newly tooled Fishbeds recently too from Eduard and Modelsvit. Good MiG-3 and -9 are still missing Edited December 3, 2019 by Dennis_C
KRK4m
Don't you think lack of Chinese markings in these first 3 boxing is intriguing? It seems that other variants can be somewhere in the pipeline. Cheers Michael
Homebee
Test build Source: https://www.facebook.com/RedStarFox01/posts/2378294132279606 Looks like to be a typical Kovozávody Prostějov (KP), AZmodel modern kit. Good subject - usually not in my favourite scale, but... - , a lot of buzz, attractive box art and when available a rather disappointing kit. A forewarned modeller is forearmed. V.P. KRK4m
Few hours ago Jan Polc has announced (in parallel plot at BM) some other boxings to follow: "...MiG-19S - a Warsaw Pact boxing - Poland*, Bulgaria, East Germany and Soviet Union. Shenyang F-6C late (with parachute below the rudder) - Egyptian, Syrian and Somalian a/c Shenyang F-6A (without parachute) - Pakistani aircraft again. Chinese box is also coming. All that in the first quarter of the 2020 I hope P and PM - are in the pipeline, together with Chinese trainer..." The asterisk * is my addition - there was never any MiG-19S flown by the Polish Air Force. So this boxing looks like some kind of "what-if" :( Cheers Michael 4
KRK4m
For those who'd like to know these are the serial numbers of all 36 MiG-19s use by the Polish Air Force. Last digits of the s/n appeared as tactical number on the nose. First batch of 11 a/c, delivered on 3rd December 1957 - MiG-19P armed with two 30mm cannon: 62210721, -723, -724, -726, -727, -728, -729, -730, -734, -736 and -739. Second batch of 12 a/c delivered on 28th July 1958 - MiG-19PM armed with four RS-2U missiles: 65210902, -904, -905, -906, -908, -909, -910, -911, -912, -914, -916 and -917. Third batch of 13 a/c delivered on 20th September 1958 - MiG-19P armed with two 30mm cannon: 62211007, -1008, -1011, -1012, -1015, -1017, -1018, -1021, -1023, -1024, -1025, -1027 and -1029. Last flight of the last PAF MiG-19 took place on 4th December 1974, three a/c are preserved in Poland. Regrettably their engines were returned to the USSR to power the La-17 drones...
