Ratch
The cuirassiers were the heaviest and most spectacular of the heavy cavalry, and as a result enjoyed a popularity which still exists to this day. Their role was to smash through a weakened enemy and win the day, and while only a part of the varied French cavalry they are often seen as the most recognisable, represented here by Strelets set 89 as the 9e Régiment de Cuirassiers.

Ratch
Strelets 1/72 French Line Infantry Standing at Attention (184) While the Guard and the cavalry received much of the attention, it was as the ordinary infantry that was the backbone of Napoleon’s armies, doing most of the fighting and dying. They were the essential element in all his victories, making the French Army the most powerful in Europe in his hands. The Eagle was carried with the 2nd Fusilier Company of I Battalion in every line and light infantry regiment. (One would expect that the elite grenadiers, or voltigeurs, and not the lowly fusiliers, carried the eagle. It was not however the best idea. The grenadiers were the ones who got the most frequently into the most dangerous situations. Thus, the Grenadier Company was not a safe place for the eagle. The voltigeurs often fought in skirmish formation, and in the woods and villages. The long and thin skirmish line is the worst place for the eagle with flag.) ERK
Amazing work considering the scale, its a very interesting subject - I too am building a Dio of the attack on La Haye Sainte, but in 28mm Perry Minitures, I am planning to get the Wood farm building to work around. Ratch
Strelets first set of figures (c) 1999. A bit crude, far too many of them wearing epaulettes, but and interesting group none-the-less.
